• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've never been diagnosed with BPD, but I was reading up on it today, and I think I may have it... I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but I think that borderline may fit better...

Anyway, does anyone know of a good online test or something to see if I might have it or if I'm completely off-base? :p.

Yes, I know seeing my psychiatrist is the best option, however I do not really like her... unfortunately, I'm on welfare and that's all I can afford. I don't trust her, but that's another story. :p.

Anyway! Going a bit off topic (that's what I get for being up at 3 in the morning, I suppose), so back to it. Haha.

To restate in case you're as ADD as I am, how can I know if I have BPD, and is there a good online test of some sort that I can take to give me some sort of indicator?

There are an abundance of "online tests" that can point you in some sort of direction, but I would not put much stock in them. There is a test that you can take at your therapist that is a personality inventory and takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to take. This test is what they used to correctly diagnose me. It will also help in determining your state within other aspects of your lifestyle. I hope you get some sort of an answer from your psychiatrist.

Speaking as one who might have ADD, thanks for being so organized and clarifying that point ;)...

I agree there are different professional tests you can take. There are some online too but I also agree not to base anything on those. Can you get another opinion/psychiatrist, even if you are on assistance?

Another resource is the library, there are a lot of books out there these days on BPD.
