Seems good to start a thread that deals with 'odd' things in the Bible, or even object lessons.
In fact, mention something every day, and I will try to add things as well!

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be;
and that which is done is that which shall be done:
and there is no new thing under the sun.

10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said,
See, this is new?
it hath been already of old time,
which was before us. KJV

I always like 'new' things...but this says nothing is 'new', so I guess it's just 'new' to me!

Proverbs 30:7-9

7 Two things have I required of thee;
deny me them not before I die:

8 Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me:

9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD?
or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. KJV

In my youth, I wanted to be wealthy, and with honest work, that is good.
The older I get the more important balance between wealth and poverty has become.
Recently, I have come to believe that balance, in this fleshly life, is not only good but better!

Ecclesiastes 2:26 For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God's sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind. NASU

I have heard several discussions on this verse, yet it still holds a lot of mystery!

What is Ecclesiastes? What is Proverbs? How does the whole book read?

I haven't read these books lately, but some how pointed out that they are Solomon's wisdom, that they have a narrative and a point, it isn't truth straight from God to live our lives by.

I am saying to not misuse the Bible. It isn't a collection of sentences or statements from God, if anything is that it is the words of Jesus and the 10 commandments. Rather, it is stories with a point (or points) or that are telling you something that God desires you to know.

When we take our automobile to the oil and lubrication service, do we insist upon an automotive systems design engineer to perform our service.

There is a benefit in understanding and performing one part well. If we boasted that we knew all then that would be iniquity.

The little horn's boastful words were concerning its great wisdom as superior to its fellow horns. Daniel 7:8.

So let the lambs begin with a few sips of milk, the blood of Christ; for when we hear and see Christ through the words, like a serpent on a pole, then the veil is taken away.

John wrote in his epistle, "I write unto you children because your sins are forgiven. I write unto you young men because you have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning." Forbid not the children. Only the fathers have the complete vision. Overcome the wicked one. 1 John 2:12,13.

Here is a text from Proverbs, and for me, this is truth to 'live by'!
Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. KJV
That said, I would acknowledge that I don't have the ability to actually 'live by' it perfectly, but I do try!
