  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some Basic Islamic Beliefs

InnerPhyre said:
Sigh......I don't know why some people just can't seem to handle that Allah (I.E. "The God") is the God of Abraham (Ibrahim in arabic) and Muslims trace their roots back to him through Ishmael, whereas Jews are traced through Isaac. SAME GOD.....With vastly different beliefs about that God. Anyone who denies it simply hasn't done their homework. Allah is the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Jews have different beliefs about God than Christians do. They don't believe he had to send His son to die for us. Does that mean that we worship a different God? Of course not. Some people just act like their entire universe will collapse if they accept the fact that Muslims and Christians and Jews follow the same God. I assure you, it won't.

Wow......I actually agree with Havoc. Someone see if it's snowing in hell ^_^

Let me ask you this: If you asked a Democrat and a Republican to describe George Bush to you, do you think you'd get the same answer? No. Does that mean that each one knows a DIFFERENT George Bush? NO! Only one opinion would truly be correct, but one party (whichever it would be) would have wrong beliefs about Bush.
Well said.

Thats because Bose was explaining his beliefs to help people understand what his beliefs were. I didn't see the point of this thread to debate them, but for us to understand them.

And so do you understand them ?

If so , what is your next move , will you become a muslim or not , if not why not ?

There's a difference in understanding a point of view and adhering to it, in much the same way that there's a difference between a valid argument and an argument with a true conclusion. I don't see why you have to tell everyone to become a Muslim who doesn't distort or misunderstand basic Islamic beliefs.

YEa i have discredeated islam ( im saying this jokeinlgy i think it was a missinterpation )
Even the Qur'an says that Allah has created mankind in His own image.

But to think of this as a physical similarity is ABSURD! We have the perfect physical form that will allow us to complete our task on Earth: to be good and be the vicegerants of God on Earth until the Day of Reckoning.

And Allah has Divine Attributes. Some of which none of Creation can have a share (Such as Al-Khaliq: The Creator, Al-Baki: The Everlasting, etc...)
While others attributes each creature manifests to a certain degree, such as Mercy, Love, Knowledge, Wisdom, etc etc..

This is what is meant in God's Image. His SPIRITUAL image, not physical. You think when we die and will be resurrected we will be with this body? You are mistaken, our souls are nothing but light. And God is Light upon Light.

Peace back to you.
We are very much aware of what Jesus stated thank you. He also now sits at the Right Hand Side of His Father in Heaven. He also said only His Father in Heaven knew the time of the end - not he. The word 'trinity' is not in the Bible.
He also called to His Father on the cross. It's up to the christians to read these words for themselves and meditate on them. Jesus is the WORD of God. He never claimed anything else. He IS the SON of God, THAT, He did claim.
And do you know what?
I believe Him!

"We are very much aware of what Jesus stated".... actually we aren't. Check the number of manuscripts, languages, and editors that the New Testament went through. Further, check the purposes and audience for which each "author" of the Gospels intended. (Isn't Matthew highly anti-semite? Anyway, one of them is. I think Matt.) Clearly, no one can be sure "WHAT JESUS STATED"

You believe, sorry to burst your bubble, not what "Jesus said" but rather, what the Gospels say that that Jesus said. In essence, you believe the New Testament and not Jesus.

You haven't burst any bubble. Many of the Jewish people rejected the Son of God. I don't reject Him and won't be tricked. I believed in Jesus before I read any Bible! You see, I have Faith in the Word. I live by Faith. I was saved through belief in Jesus. I don't even have to be baptised to believe in Jesus and to be saved. (Was the thief on the cross baptised?)
Yes, I believe every word written in the New Testament and I thank God I am permitted to read it. Your words only make me stronger in my beliefs. Thank you for that!

The theif was not granted Heaven... only 'paradise'.... check your Bible, please.

Well, since you believe every word in the NT, allow others to believe every word in their holy book without condemnation from yourself.

Yes...so I have read. Christians accept Jesus as the Son of the Living God. His divinity is unquestionable. So we have no need to read the Koran.
Thankyou and Peace.

Percisely stated. It is disputable because a non believer will always be that way until the Holy Spirit can enter His/Her soul and start a spiritual transformation.

I will say that reading the Koran will help all of God's children to know what their enemy is about and how he operates. Simply reading the Koran can be a piece of education.

Dude. Come on. Just because the Qur'an glorifies God alone, and honors all His Messengers..you will accuse it of being evil? We are all God's children.

Really? I think it better to stick to the New Testament thankyou. There is enough education given by the Holy Spirit.
We acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God. We do not question that fact. God is NOT the author of confusion. And so, as christians, we leave the Koran to the muslims.

I am not saying to read the whole thing but rather read to get the essence of it or at least, be knowlegeable for pprposes as we research other things that are not Christian. I will read about other religions although I know their value to my spiritual life is likely to be = 0. Knowing what you oppose and how it works is also part of our education as a Christian too. How else do you think that the missionaries are able to go in to foreign territories if they don't educate themselves about the world they are going to face?

I too agree that the Koran is not my priority. We, indeed, have our plates full just understandiing our Bible.

Bevlina, you only mentioned NT. Are you implying that the NT is the only part we should be reading and trying to understand? Just looking for clarity.
