Not only its nature. He also gives the purpose and effects of scripture. You still did not answer the question. You agree what the nature of a thing is, i.e. "a series of attributes that a thing possesses". Great, so we agree on something. But do you agree that in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 St. Paul is speaking about the nature of Scripture? Or is he speaking about something else?
You are still dodging the question. Did St Paul give "the purpose and effects" of the nature of Scripture? Or did he give "the purpose and effects" of something else? Not only its nature. He also gives the purpose and effects of scripture.
Actually, Peter is the Rock in Matt 16:18. That's the plain meaning of the text. Whether or not Peter's successors have any authority apart from the office of Bishop or Presbyter is another matter.
Do we? Because I'm thinking your Bible is a little bit shorter than mine.Look, we both know what the Bible says.
He gives all three.
1. God Breathed.
2. Profitable in
a. teaching
b. reproof, or rebuking
c. correction, or correcting faults
d. training in righteousness
3. with the result that the man of God may be:
a. complete
b. equipped for every good work.
This passage of Roman's doesnt even come close to proving SS. This passage DOES NOT say scripture alone.
Well that claim is not has no truth in it. Already addressed here click me. Let me ask you a direct question. If we are only saved by God's Grace through faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God how can you have faith when there is no Word? Ignoring God's Word does not make it disappear. If one does away with Gods' Word they do away with their own salvation. Jesus warns us not to follow the traditions and teachings of men that break the commandments of God in Matthew 15:3-9. What does this thread teach?over 250 posts and nothing has been posted that says the Bible is the sole rule of faith for a Christian and you can say show menin the bible? Have you been reading along?
Here you go Already addressed here click me. Let me ask you a direct question. If we are only saved by God's Grace through faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God how can you have faith when there is no Word?Really? Sorry, I missed it. Can you please clearly repeat it.
I have. And it is perfectly clear that the proponents of SS cant come up with a scripture verse to support it.So you didn't read the OP. That's par for course I've noticed.
sure it does.Well that claim is not has no truth in it
okLet me ask you a direct question.
okIf we are only saved by God's Grace through faith
okand faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God
okhow can you have faith when there is no Word?
The Word of God is Christ. Your mistake is that God's Word is limited to scripture. If one does away with Gods' Word they do away with their own salvation
exactly, such as Luther Henry VIII, Ellen White, Smith, and all the cults creating doctrine.Jesus warns us not to follow the traditions and teachings of men
this thread teaches me SS does not have scriptural backing. What does this thread teach?
sure it does. Why not just admit that SS is an approach you agree with. Instead, you claim it is biblical and all credibility is lost.
I and the Catholic Church revere Scripture infinately more than and protestant sect.Ignroing God's Word does not make it
I see you've read my last post as carefully as this thread.I noticed you ignored my question to you
In the days of Jesus and the Apostles the religious teachers of the day also called Jesus of the Devil for sharing God's Word. Their fathers persecuted the prophets and the Saints for sharing God's Word and also called the Apostles and disciples of Jesus a sect as well. I believe we are in good company. There is nothing new under the sun.I and the Catholic Church revere Scripture infinately more than and protestant sect.
I see you've read my last post as carefully as this thread.
yes they did.In the days of Jesus and the Apostles the religious teachers of the day also called Jesus of the Devil.
okTheir fathers persecuted the prophets and the Saints and also called the disciples a sect as well.
you may be in that false religion thing, but please dont include meI believe we are in good company.
For me only Gods' Word is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that deny the Word of God. Jesus warns us about doing this in Matthew 15:3-9.yes they did. ok you may be in that false religion thing, but please dont include me
you should rewrite this to say " For me only scripture is true and we should believe".For me only Gods' Word is true and we should believe
despite what Paul says.over the teachings and traditions of men
indeedJesus warns us about doing this in Matthew 15:3-9.
No need. God's Word is scripture. If you cannot answer the question asked of you just say so. No need to waste each others time if your not here for a discussion. If we are only saved by God's Grace through faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God how can you have faith when there is no Word?you should rewrite this to say " For me only scripture is true and we should believe".
despite what Paul says.
indeed
your fatal mistake, to say God's Word is limited to scripture. Good.luck with that.God's Word is scripture
