First and foremost, let's present Sola Fide for anyone not familiar with it:

THESIS FOUR: SOLA FIDE
We reaffirm that justification is by grace alone through faith alone because of Christ alone. In justification Christ's righteousness is imputed to us as the only possible satisfaction of God's perfect justice.
We deny that justification rests on any merit to be found in us, or upon the grounds of an infusion of Christ's righteousness in us, or that an institution claiming to be a church that denies or condemns sola fide can be recognized as a legitimate church.
An all-too-common perception in this world is that whatever you believe is OK as long as you are sincere in your belief and actions. Many people say that your preferred system of beliefs is equally valid in Gods eyes to whatever degree you adhere to it, and that must include Christianity in order for this statement to be thought of as true, or rather, politically correct. So the question this thought presents is this: Is it enough to believe the checkpoints of any belief system to attain your salvation? To clarify the question: Can a set of beliefs save me? This is the key question here.
Faith is more potent than belief. An intellectual belief isnt enough, for even the Devil believes in correct doctrine. Also, sentimental belief isnt enough, for there are many out there who make outward signs of belief, as long as its in style to do so. They proclaim that they are justified in Christ because Jesus is their homeboy and copilot. Not everyone who wears a t-shirt or crucifix is condemned, but a proclamation of belief in a sentimental or intellectual way does not constitute saving faith.
faith does not save us.
Romans 5:1 tells us that peace with God is through Jesus Christ. Therefore, faith has no intrinsic power. Faith cannot save us. Faith brings us to the one who can save us. Faith can be though of as an ambulance. If you suffer a massive heart attack while far away from a hospital, your only hope may be that someone called 911 quickly enough for the paramedics to arrive. They will assess your situation and load you into the ambulance, racing to the hospital. Once there, the doctor will perform an emergency surgery to right what was wrong and your life will be spared. And whats the point to this story? The ambulance and paramedics didnt save you. They raced you to the doctor at the hospital. It is the doctor who saved your life. Without the ambulance, you would certainly have died, but the ambulance cant ultimately save you. Using this illustration of faith resembling a spiritual ambulance, we can understand that it is not enough to just believe. Faith without works is dead. The ambulance needs to take you to the doctor just as your faith needs to take you to Jesus.
Faith on its own may not be enough to complete our salvation, but we need to realize that a faith that works is more than Intellect/Sentiment. It is asking God to restore Gods image in us. He will do it for those He justifies, regardless of our request. It is, however, much easier in the battleground of our hearts when we get on board. The Lords purpose is not to make us comfortable, but to conform us back toward the image of Christ.
The fact of the matter: If faith isnt a part of your life, it doesnt matter what you believe. As Soloman would say in the book of Ecclesiatics, on its own faith is vanity. It is impossible to work our way to God. Weighing good vs bad you will lose. God made us very good in His image and we cannot reclaim that image that is necessary to be reconciled to Him. The penalty for this incompatability is death. Since salvation by works is impossible, salvation must be a gift. For those who are being called today, this is the day to put this into action. For those who have received the grace of God, we need to live the life that God wants us to live. We need to stop resisting God, for resistance is a
futile struggle that will only cause is misery. We need to get on board with Gods plans to remake us into His image.
After a massive heart attack, we do not have the ability to climb into an ambulance, but we do have the ability to ease our recovery through cardiac rehabilitation.
