I believe that i know more than the Pope because i know what a elder/bishop is. I believe that i know more than the pope because if the bible doesn't say don't do something doesn't mean i can add it in. No where in the bible does anyone pray to anyone except to God the father Even Jesus prays to God the Father. In the bible it says that were not to call anyone Father or rabbi Matt 23:8. I know more than the Pope because i know the so called missing books aren't missing they don't belong they are false, If My Heavenly Father was with me in the old testament and only with my people because we were his people Then how did and Why was our scripture written in a total different language and the Holy Ghost didn't give the power to speak tounges until the new testament. Why do none of the books in the bible refrence back to none of those missing books, but the new testament and the old testament corespond like there suppossed to. Im know more than the Pope because i know that the apostles already left guidence on how the Church was to be organized and ran because they learned while they were with Jesus, so why does the pope's keep changing it over the years. The world and times may change but the word of God Doesn't. I know more than the Pope because I know there is only one true head of the Church. I know the apostles were bishops/Elders over their own congregation not over the whole church for there is only one master Jesus the Christ. Why would God let man whom he came to save rule over his Church how can man show another man how not to sin he can't thats why Jesus came he never sinned. Man always has. I know more than the Pope because i Know Peter wasn't a Pope 1 Peter 5:1-4 Please read peter was an elder over his church not Lord over Gods heritage, in this passage he is talking to the other elders at the other churches if a bishop was to be over the whole Church then he wouldn't be calling them the same title he holds. In the second verse it tells that Elders are to Feed the Flock among you meaning their own congregation. Feed meaning to Shepherd the Flock showing there is no man head shepherd on the earth. the head shepherd of the Church is Jesus the Christ. Truely i hope these words reaches someone and makes them think because none of the elders that Paul,Peter or none of the other apostles ordained over the Churches went to college to learn about the Bible or how to interpret Gods word its not a twisted riddle its not to any private interpretation. If Jesus went through everything i mean All he went through to get us His word to Start His Church do you really think he would let man keep out part of his word Do research on those missing Books the Old testament was written totally in Hebrew because that was the Language why are these other books written in Greek and in Latin if no one from the Old testament had ventured out that far and there is no mention of it neither in the Old or the New testament. But Please don't take my word for it Read the bible Please. IF it weren't for the Bible what would man know about God Anyone who tries to discredit the Bible is trying to discredit God

I would have to say that the poster you are speaking to has also been difficult to deal with. But that aside, thank you for your post. And I agree with my fellow brethren that you do have a good attitude and you are a breath of fresh air here. We need to remember that as followers of Jesus, we are His representatives to the world around us. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate your post. Oh yeah, and welcome to Christian Forums! I, too, look forward to your posts. God bless you.

Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account.

is that part in your messed up Bible?
Hello Ave Maria,

The Protestant Bible is not messed and such language is very divisive. Many Catholics don't understand the damage that they do when they post threads like this.

There is no doubt that Pope Benedict is a very knowledgeable and spiritual man and his vast studies in scripture rival about anyone's in Christianity today but what he understands is the need to control what he says so that he doesn't create a divide.

Sad sad world when we look to man for salvation.
Catholics look to the same one that you look to for our salvation. When Jesus was raised up to heaven he left behind men to be shepherds to the Church. Those are our clergy or Protestant's ministers. Shepherds can also include the laity because we are all shepherds and sheep.

Snipping an interesting bit out of a wall-of-text:

Makes ya think, doesn't it? And yes, John Jay - welcome!

Again... I don't think I called anyone a name here, sorry it's just that several times as a child I was left with a bad taste or with reprimand or something because of false accusations so I take these things very personally.

You see I am one who believes that no one can come to know God by reading the Bible. Nor can one come to know God by reading what other people say about God.

I believe it is dangerous for one to go to a seminary to learn about God.

I don’t know what God tells the pope either, that is the problem. He does not witness that God has taught him.

Paul told us only God can teach us to know God.

who is the Good Shepherd? who is the "hired hand?"

John 10:12
The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.

because you don't have the right books in it. don't you know that?

and i am still waiting to see how you know more than the pope. thats the title of my thread. if you don't then keep steppin
Ave Maria, you are not helping your case by making snide and sarcastic comments like this. Respect goes two ways. You're 17; stop acting like a 5 year old who doesn't get her way.

I personally have a great deal of respect for the Pope. He is a wonderful Christian leader and scholar, and I am a huge fan of his work. That does not mean, however, that I agree with him on everything. I'll certainly trust him more than Pastor Joe Bob down the street, but he is not infallible.

As for the "messed up Bible," the Deuterocanon was not considered to be fully inspired until quite recently. Before you make snide comments like this, why don't you prove to us that you understand the canonization process and the various tiers that books are placed on? I presume you already know what they are.

That said, they are a good read and are good for edification, and I agree that they shouldn't have been taken out of the Bible completely.

You realize that Luther left the Deuterocanon in his German translation, and called them good for edification, right? The Deuterocanon wasn't removed from Protestant Bibles until the 19th century.
