I don't think she had a teleprompter. That was her usual self. 18 minutes is a lot for her....and it didn't go well.
Which interview did you watch? The one on CNN was closer to 30 minutes long.

I noticed throughout Harris' interview with CNN, that she kept looking down; as she was answering the scripted questions; as if she herself was reading a script.

Where do you suppose the teleprompter was hidden from camera view?

"...To which we should apply metrics that include deadlines around time." - Kamala Harris.

I doubt very much she got any help, because that quote is a classic Kamala word salad that no scriptwriter with any self respect would write down. It could only have come from the mind of Kamala Harris.

Deadlines around time? Are there deadlines not based around time?

The edited one clearly....she originally did 45 minutes, that got cut to 18, and if you're saying that another 9 minutes got added....ok, I believe you.

Exactly. First question...

1. What will you do day 1? Simple question, every candidate gets asked it. She spends a minute rambling on about nothing and then Dana has to remind her to answer the question.

That rambling nonsense is classic Harris. The back half...the part where she describes an economic plan is not only a vague set of policies....but to the credit of Dana....it leads to her 1st hard question...

2. Why haven't you already moved forward on these economic issues?

Then Harris goes on to say that first...they had to save the economy.

That's right.. her top priority is to save the economy. Why didn't she do these things under Biden? Because first they had to save the economy.

It's classic Harris.

So Where was the Teleprompter?

Carry on consoling yourselves, Republican supporters! This snide thread has pretty well run its course of denigrating Harris. We shall see in the inevitable polls how she was received by voters. Republicans must be worried.

Speakers often use teleprompters, though there is little to suggest that Harris did on this occasion. There is not much mileage in that 'science of the eyes' or relying on an earpiece. She did the job without dropping a catch or fumbling a pass. It was just what was needed, not spectacular but mainly giving Trump nothing.
Can we see the 40 minutes that were edited out?

Regardless, what do Harris supporters think she will do to make/ keep America Great? I have yet to see an answer to this question.

Her debate rhetoric that she will fall back on will be....

1. 'I haven't changed my values." Forget that she hasn't really stated any values in any real way....except perhaps abortion...she just wants to make clear that she isn't some flip flopping politician saying anything to get electedm....because she is.

2. We need to save the economy/middle class/etc. This is a statement just about any citizen believes....that's why she's going to say it. She doesn't write legislation though....so economic policy while nice, happens or doesn't happen bases on the legislature. She can do things to help the economy like cutting out waste in government programs and the executive branch....or fixing the border. Pelosi made it clear however, the Democratic Party has no goal of closing the border....they want to give houses to illegals and find a way to make them citizens. They want votes and frankly, bad loans for people unable to understand them. Those houses will get foreclosed on...and big private equity firms will buy them....eventually putting home ownership out of reach forever. Small business loans will go the same way....in the name of "diversity" and "inclusion".

They are destroying the middle class....step by step.

Well first she was against fracking, then she was for fracking; and unless she has changed her mind yet again, now she is against fracking again. Maybe this exhibition of cognitive dissonance reinforces her posture for diversity of ideas.

Supposedly, Dana asked a good question after Harris made clear she supports fracking and it was....

"How can you support fracking and the Green New Deal at the same time?"

Obviously, she didn't have any good answer....so it was removed.

Is word salad going to be the new misused talking point? It might be an unnecessary addition but it is perfectly cogent and understandable.

And yes, there is the original meaning of deadline, the line past which prisoners will be shot.

It certainly seems that way. Though, I'm not sure how many of the folks misusing that term don't know what it means or can't actually parse the sentences, so, to them, it does seem to be gobbledygook.

About 10 minutes of it were directed at Walz.

Also that....

The idea that it's a pre-recorded interview with material cut from it shouldn't be controversial....Trump’s campaign does the same thing for pre-recorded interviews.

The more accurate way to characterize her statements is to say....

They often lack substance and ramble. That's not technically the same as "word salad" but I don't really blame the media for using labels that are catchy if not entirely accurate.

I think it's a big problem when they mislabel things intentionally to deceive. One example would be taking Trump's answer regarding a question about Harris's race and pretending it shows his (or the right's) obsession with race is deliberately deceitful.

She never said in 2020 she was for fracking. She said Joe Biden was.

Yep, we are too uneducated to understand her super-nuanced sentences.

Perhaps, though I’d have to know the specific case.

I’m just calling it as I see it. When you guys point fingers as something completely sensible, it just makes you all look bad.

It is a bit pointless to describe anybody's spoken language as word salad. Spoken language is hardly ever in sentences in the strict grammatical sense, and that is all right because the meaning is usually clear in context. So it is no surprise that Trump and Harris speeches cannot always be parsed.

It is not Trump's grammar that grates with me; it is the incoherent switches of subject, often within the same small segment.
