So what's with all the weird stuff

Looks to me like everyone is being guided by several "spirits". There are too many different opinions here for them to be guide by only one. In my opinion you will all be surprised. That is not the spirit telling me this but the God given brain that he provided me.

Yes true.
They are in proper disciplined Pentecostal churches where the operation of the Holy Spirit voice
gifts are practised in decency and in order.
Diversities of tongues followed by interpretation, and with prophesy.
We do this every Sunday at our communion meetings.
And yes the prophets speak of these last days. The Lord warns us that the end is imminent and that
the whole world, including us his church, shall experience war and tribulations sooner than later.

Watch and pray.

I would say there are no prophets today, but we are able to prophesy whch isn't the same.

The office of prophet/seer is not the same as one who prophesies, whereas the prophets of the old testament prophecy judgment, we who are under grace prophecy to edify the church. The office of Profit edifies the church entirely and hears or sees Gods instruction for the entire church. Also prophets help others to grow in their gift of prophecy.

Where as the Pastor cares and feeds the flock, the prophet steers the flock as the shepherd leads. I am more of a seer than a prophet. Seers see things in the spirit where Prophets hear things in the spirit. All Christians have the gift to prophecy, that is give words of edification to the church as the spirit leads.

You can just give an encouraging word such as a complement and end up prophesying and not even know it, its very natural, happens more than we realize. People like to make it into almost a magical thing, its not something you have to strive for.

What you've quoted in 1 Cor. 12 and 14 are the 'office holders and administrators of the early church to build the foundation of it. Similar to how we do it today with pastors and clergy etc.

Before the church was established spiritual gifts were administered only to certain individuals hand picked by God. As the Spiritual gifts emerged into the general population of the church, and the foundation of the church established, the apostles and prophets eventually died off and were no longer necessary. All the prophecies were given. Prophesying is a gift of the Spirit and doesn't make one a prophet.

1 Cor 14 gives us details about the organization and offices of the early church. Some stayed in their local church and some positions were a ministry of going from church to church and went wherever the Spirit led them.

To be an apostle there were two qualifications. An apostle must have seen Jesus and witnessed his resurrection or the ascension and they included more than the twelve. Prophets also had their own qualifications. They had a dangerous job and were usually the first to be persecuted.

In the NT church, the last of the prophets went from church to church 'telling forth' God's Will for the establishment of the churches foundation. They were 'wandering prophets' as they really had no place to live. They were only meant to stay for no more than a few days, had no family, had no place to live, and were not allowed to receive any money. The position was often abused as they often extended their stay and accepted money and lived large at the expense of the congregation. There were no prophets between the Testaments, only inspired writings, and there were no prophets after the New Testament church was established.

As the church grew and developed they eventually had their own deacons and ministers etc. to run the local church. After the church was well established the 'wandering prophets' became more of a disturbance than a help. The church eventually viewed them as an intrusion and the office of prophet just faded out.

Most Christian's I know do agree that there are no more apostles or prophets. All the prophecies about the end and Christ second coming have been made. The church is established and the Word is written.

I don't know anybody who upholds the qualifications of a prophet or apostle anymore. There's no longer any use for them now that we have the gift of prophecy which is different than being a prophet. Today we are disciples and are able to prophesy. That doesn't make us an apostle or a prophet!

That's what everything in Revelation is leading up to.... the Revealing of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Almighty, the Lord of Heaven in perceptible form. The powers of heaven and earth will be shaken, and moved out of the way on that day.

If you are talking about Revelation and Jesus's Return in Matthew 24 - no, Jesus did not say any of it would pass during the Apostles, generation. And it did not happen in their generation.

The book Revelation, all of it, is about the end times events leading up to the Revealing of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Almighty, the Lord of Heaven in perceptible form. The powers of heaven and earth will be shaken, and moved out of the way on that day. Every eye will see Him.

No, Revelation was all about what was going to happen in the Apostles generation. It all happened by 70AD.

The context of the chapter MUST be understood as an answer to this three part question, and NOT ONLY the stones falling.

1. When will these things be. (not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.)
2. What will be the sign of thy coming/parousia/return.
3. What will be the sign of the end of the world. (consummation of the age or completion of all prophecies.)

"Verse 33-34 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

Jesus uses the word 'THIS.' THIS is also translated "THE SAME." Meaning THE SAME generation that sees and endures the events and conditions he previously spoke about between verses 3-32. It's THE GENERATION on earth during the time of his return and nothing else. NOT the generation he is speaking to!

"Even so, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

The word 'likewise' is the same as saying 'even so' or 'so thus'...

It connects what Jesus previously said between verses 4-31, to what Jesus said about, “this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” That alone debunks the idea that Mathew 24 was meant for the generation of 70 AD.

You would be hard pressed convincing me and many others that those events HAVE PASSED!

I was not referring to Matthew 24:34.... but to the statement you made on REVELATION. The what in Revelation - explain. You wrote...

Research it yourself. Revelation was written before 70AD. It is the prophecy of the fall of the Temple etc.

People read doom and gloom as referring to our time now. This is not so.
