I reject the premise. It's irresponsible to not try to change. God is not impressed, I'm sure.
There are 300. Do we need 301?We need federal laws.
Who said I'm calling for no change? I'm for addressing the disease, not the symptom. Maybe I didn't make that clear, but don't assume God is judging me, he knows my heart and what I meant. How Christian of you.
There are 300. Do we need 301?
The world as such is getting better and better.
The USA compared to the rest of the world is getting worse and worse, though. Not because the life in the USA is worse than before, but because other countries are more successful than the USA.
We have 300 that criminals ignore. If so, is that a problem?
It always surprises me that many americans use "bad apples" in the sense that "we cant do anything about them, they are outliers and not really meaningful in the big picture".I'm personally tired of the decent, responsible people always being punished and having their rights taken away because of the few bad apples. It also disparately impacts women, who stand a far less chance of protecting themselves otherwise.
The bad apples will always have guns - they don't care about laws. So all you do is disarm the good ones who do.
We have 300 that criminals ignore.
Okay, you're right. I'm not being helpful. What changes do you suggest to address the disease?
Thoughts and prayers are also for stricter gun legislation.Joe Biden says mass shootings rarely happen outside the US. What have other countries done that America hasn't?
ABC News -2 June 2022
Here's what some other countries have done in response to some of the most significant mass shootings outside the US over the last three decades:
- New Zealand banned semi-automatic weapons straight away
- Norway enacted a similar ban (but not as quickly)
- It took Australia just days to act on a plan
- The UK government ordered an inquiry (and accepted its recommendations)
- Canada has just introduced legislation to limit handgun sales
So what’s the US doing?..........

It always surprises me that many americans use "bad apples" in the sense that "we cant do anything about them, they are outliers and not really meaningful in the big picture".
After all, the saying goes "a few bad apples spoil the bunch", urging the person hearing the saying to radically excise those bad apples, lest the whole bunch becomes bad.
I think we need to take a serious look at multiple things, including the public school system (bullies, ratio of teachers to students, safety nets to identify and help troubled students, ...) We need to study the problem, find patterns, not just have a knee-jerk reaction for gun control everytime there's a shooting.
We should even take a look at the role pharmaceuticals may be playing, as there seems to be a pattern there:
37 Mass Shooters Who Were On Antidepressants
How the FDA Buried the Dangers of Anti-Depressants
Obviously we didn’t since there are 1000s of laws in place. We have irresponsible citizens who use guns at will to slaughter each other. No lover of order and justice can say that is good enough.
Also the fact that you have basically only two political parties that just take turns in power is a bit strange.Combine this with the fact that a number of folks here are spooked by the notion of a rising Anti-Christ + the fact that in the U.S. we don't have any really substantive social "safety net," and VOILA!!! Worry galore!!
Grab your gun and circle the wagons!!!
Yes, there is a much larger need for mental health assessment in this nation. But then, there'll be an outcry from those who think the "assessments" are being rigged and/or manipulated by the opposing political side.

I think there needs to be a special task force within the FBI solely focused on what I call " binge killers". Remember "serial killers"? They practicality dont exist any more due to huge strides in profiling , forensic research and DNA analysis.Joe Biden says mass shootings rarely happen outside the US. Mental health, yes. Including what kind of future we're providing for them. The current curriculum seems more a college-prep. But for those who can't, or won't, go on to college, what does it offer them? imo they need a hope for their future.
Ultimately, I think it's a culture problem. I am particularly annoyed by gun love.
I agree; the problem is multifaceted.
I agree we should be looking at all of that. What we need is an argument for why gun regulation should be off the table. That's where I see knee jerk reaction. It can't be a 2nd Amend. argument. We have that for our good. But if that right works against the common good, unnecessarily, it can be regulated, should be regulated. We don't have rights for the sake of self-destruction.
Why can't we regulate guns? The response can't be because that means taking them all away; it doesn't. Slippery slopes are never good arguments; they're just unhappy accidents when they obtain.
Yeah, I'm good for looking at these patterns. We are a highly medicated society. Ultimately, I think it's a culture problem. I am particularly annoyed by gun love. The immature gun fetish is unhealthy, deadly, but probably indicative of deeper existential problems. Extremism in all its forms should be rejected as inordinate and destructive. We have to figure out how to work together. I think, as Americans, we should be more pragmatic and focused on what works best. Our ideologies are killing us.
