Oh boy are you about to get a crash course in Zec! LOL

Monday is House, you're right and that's very cool. But Monday is also WWE Raw is War. Thursday doubly-blessed because it is Supernatural and TNA Impact. Friday is WWE Smackdown.

Its just a man's soap opera, that's what wrestling is, we have to put up with here with my son.

True, but the "actors" work harder than any other actor or professional athlete. Gotta give 'em props for that.

Uh. Fake wrestling? Honestly?

:D

Of course, tonight is the premier of Heros so...I guess I have nothing to talk about...

Kae

Scripted & choreographed? Yes. Fake? No. Pro wrestlers are held together by pins, metal rods, fused bones and painkillers. Most are unable to work a full-time schedule by the time they're in their mid-40's due to repeat injuries and susceptibility to career ending and life altering injuries. Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson was smart to get out when he did.

Eh, you know I was just funnin' ya! *G* I've been known to get drawn into a "show" or two.

I DO like that new "hole in the wall" however, it was MUCH funnier in Japanese. *G*

Heroes looks like it's going to be another great season. I was completely confused last night which makes it awesome. *G* Looking forward to Grey's, Men in Trees, The Office and...well jingle bells. I can't remember the name of the new show I wanted to check out. Phooey!

"Pro wrestlers" are merely stuntmen.

Except stuntmen are usually dressed head to toe in protective gear so they don't get hurt. Then when their one stunt is over, they go home for the day. Hardly, a good comparison.

I have never seen a stuntman dressed head to toe in protective gear. They need to be dressed so as to appear like the actor they are stunting for. I've seen many demonstrations of stunts and they never wore protective gear.

It's a matter of learning how to do the prat falls without injury. Pro "wrestlers" refer to themselves as stuntmen.

Got names of these wrestlers who refer to themselves that way? All the ones I hear refer to themselves as either sports entertainers or athletes. A lot of them are former athletes. Bill Goldberg for example used to play football for the Atlanta Falcons.

I never said that they weren't athletic. Duane Johnson (The Rock) played football for the University of Miami. A number of them are body builders. But to equate "pro wrestling" with sports is a joke. I have watched documentaries concerning pro wrestling where they equate the "wrestlers" to stuntmen. The wrestlers refer to themselves as stuntmen. That's what they do. They are not real wrestlers. They are actors who perform many (not all in some cases) of their own stunts. Plain and simple.

It's obvious nothing I say is going to change your mind. A lot of the wrestlers started out in "real" wrestling in high school and college, but I guess that background doesn't count. Kurt Angle would probably take real exception to you referring to him as a "mere stuntman." But I shouldn't be surprised I guess. Some people are just biased against what they don't like. Look at all the crap Nascar drivers get about not being "real athletes" either.

But it's not nearly as sexualized as most soap operas. Like people aren't getting married and divorced every few weeks and people don't age 10 years over the course of a summer. LOL There is also good dose of comedy in it too, which is missing from soap operas as well. The point is it's got something for everybody.

And obviously nothing I say is being read by you. If you had read my previous post, you would have read "I never said they weren't athletic."

"Pro wrestling" is not a sport. It's "entertainment". That's what the "E" in WWE stands for. It's acting by professional stuntmen. That's all.

Look at all the crap Nascar drivers get about not being "real athletes" either.

But NASCAR is a legimate sport. It requires skill and strategy to compete. It's not scripted and rehearsed like "pro wrestling" is. NASCAR doesn't have writers who come up with scenes like "there will be a multicar crash on lap 88 and driver A will run from his car and throw his helmet at driver B to incite the crowd," and then rehearse it numerous times to get it down.
Such a comparison is apples and oranges.

I've read what you've said. The problem is I've heard it all before.

It used to be called WWF in which the "F" stood for Federation. They had to change their name to the WWE because they were sued by the World Wildlife Federation for copyright infringement. The Wildlife people thought people might get the two confused. Don't ask me how, I had no idea there was any other WWF than the one owned by Vince McMahon.

My point was that Nascar drivers aren't considered professional athletes by the general public either, just like wrestlers are not.
