I sent an email to my pastor today, resigning my positions and leaving the church. So, I'm not a Methodist anymore and I'll be moving to a PCA church.

I've enjoyed our discussions and learned a lot. I'll lurk about, but probably won't post here anymore since I'm not a member of this faith community now.

God bless. Bryan.

God bless you too, Bryan. The PCA will no doubt be blessed by your presence as we have been. May you find your faith strengthened and equipped to edify and bless others.

(P.S. You well know we're open to nearly anyone posting, so don't just lurk even if you have changed your icon.)

I tend to ignore rules like that. Since I'm becoming a Presbyterian, my theology is going to change considerably to fit my new church and I don't want be one of those, "I used to be a Methodist and then I changed, so you all need to change or you're going to hell" kind of people. ;)

I'm being open-minded about Calvinism right now. If it doesn't work for me, I might be back to being Wesleyan by this time next year. Then, I can be full member of the forum again.

2 little flames on their cross rather than one big one? John with last name Calvin instead of Wesley?
There is a big difference between Calvin and Wesley. Calvin is against female clergy I think and I believe has different baptismal beliefs.

What "rule" caused you to switch? What does the Presbyterians have that we don't?

Not those rules. We're talking about the CF rules regarding people from one faith community going into another's forum and telling them how they should do Christianity.

Byran,

Blessings on your new church affiliation. I hope it works out for you. You may feel it is a better fit though there are some very big differences between Calvinist and Weslyan theology which may or may not end up being an issue for you.

If I ever had to switch denominations again (not likely) I'd only be able to be comfortable in a non-calvinist denomination. My previous denomination (American Baptist) was not Calvinist. So it has never been part of my theology.

But whatever helps you grow closer to Christ is what counts.

True, that's the thing about Calvinists, they're so determined. :p

LOL! Never heard that one before... thanks for bringing a smile to my face today, GraceSeeker.

I'll miss seeing you post here, Bryan. I hope you find a true church home in the PCA. God bless.

According to Calvinism you are or aren't. Nothing you can do about it.

Exactly. Last I heard, God doesn't give the elect (if there even is such a group) a special birthmark or super-powers, so I'll work out my salvation with fear and trembling--just as I always did.
