What are you talking about? Who said it was?

People have been complaining that articles get attacked and posters get called out. Speaking for myself only, I'll be critical of an article or a poster if there is a question about the veracity of the information that is left unanswered, or an unwillingness to admit a mistake. A poster may claim that there are a hundred studies with data that support their side of the argument, but never come back to provide a single citation....and I have a big problem with that, either because it's my day job coming out..or because this is me:

That's not what this thread is about though. It's about coming to a compromise we all can live with.

. There are things which I'm fairly certain will never change. Michie will always flood the forum with spam and play the martyr when she's called on it, AMDG will never allow facts other way of anything that happens to conform to her worldview, WA will continuously fail to understand nuance, and Fantine will never be respectful of tradition.

There is comfort in stability.

I think

Well I posted my thoughts on that in an earlier post here...and would suggest that no one post articles unless they were read them and comfortable with them, took a position on them, and would be prepared to support the information in an article they support if called to.

Others seem to interpret calling a poster out on an article or comment as attacking, and that's what I was referring to here.

I think we've decided it will be 5 articles main & five political. It applies to all & it's an honor system, not a rule. We can cross the bridge of people not liking whatever is posted for whatever reason when it's posted. When I post sometimes I'll comment, sometimes I won't. It just depends if I have anything more to say.

Nothing is going to be perfect obviously but we can give it a go. I'm not ready to spoil for another fight in this thread about what is posted. I asked repeatedly if we should just use certain sources with no reply so it is up to the discretion of the poster to decide hat to post for discussion within the confines of OBOB rules.

Amen!!! Too often (and not just by Michie) people post straight-up garbage and when called on it, respond with "don't shoot the messenger." How about instead we all elect not to forward deceitful or short-sightednarticlesband opinions for further consumption? Instead of linking without comment, the OP should include their own personal thoughts - thatbit is garbage, that the author is right, or that they are interested but unconvinced and seeking opinions. So many of the
No that have been posted have clearly been given no scrutiny by the OP, and that's a problem.

I'll repeat this as I received some positive comments on it from posters who did not feel comfortable speaking up.

That's 700+ threads a year, enough to keep you still solidly in 1st place as thread-starters.

I don't think anyone who's every had to deal with staff here wants more management meddling.

People create caricatures of themselves, they don't need my help.

I like the idea of having one thread per topic too. Have a gay marriage spam thread, a Catholic blogger spam thread and a news-other spam thread. We can call them spam cans and you can keep them full and at the top.

How many cans do we need? 10 seems excessive.
