• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Bro, you have some amazing prayer warriors here supporting you. We're also here to give you perspective looking in at the situation. Sometimes we can't see how small something really is until someone provides Godly insight. Sometimes we can't see past ourselves if someone doesn't help us. My first prayer for you is to find an accountability group, individual (older man or woman of God is best), or Christian counselor. God has graciously provided these kinds of people to assist us during our spiritual winters.

Being accountable and participating in groups that love God is of vital importance. It's one of the sustaining forces along with prayer and immersing ourselves in the Word. You may feel that you are lost ... BUT YOU ARE NOT. It might seem there is no way out ... BUT THERE IS. You might think that these thoughts will never cease ... BUT THEY CAN.

You are literally made in the image of God. Don't beat yourself up. Believe that you are loved, believe that you are HIS workmanship, and believe when He tells you in His word that you are adequate. I was told recently that our mind is like a tape recorder ... it plays only the things we allow it. You have Please ask the Lord to heal your mind from "rewind mode" and the tendency to focus on the past. Instead ask Him to assist in looking toward the future in anticipation and expectation that God is going to do something remarkable in your life ... every day ... even on days in which you may not notice.

YOU ARE USABLE, YOU ARE LACKING NOTHING, YOU ARE GODS FINGERPRINTS.

I promise you that as you begin to look to these truths every time a negative thought comes, your life will begin to change, your relationships will change and most of all your perspective of everything will change. I will be praying for you. Please also take a moment to look in the mirror and tell yourself who you are. Tell yourself that you are a man of God. Confident, strong, and loved. When you get a chance I also want you just to sit down and read Psalm 139. Pray that God opens your eyes to this truth.

I am here for you if you need to talk as a brother in Christ. In the meantime, I recommend getting involved in a healthy congregation, a college group or men's group and confide in people of God. Through these things, prayer, and daily reading of the word you will find yourself free of all this before you know it.

The bible tells us 365 times, do not fear. Do not let the enemy steal your joy, bro! Get out there and swim in a spiritual ocean! Keep going strong because YOUR LIFE MATTERS!!

Hey, I just wanted to say that I've been in your shoes. I've been so depressed that I didn't even wanna get out of bed. I cut myself and contemplated Suicide. Even tried a couple times.

Revived hit the nail on the head. I encourage you to do those things he suggested. God has helped me so much in this area I can't even begin to tell you. You CAN get better! You CAN love life again.

I'm a LIVING example of this.
:)

You've got my prayers.:hug::hug:

hi thanks...just so lonely cause class if off for a week...and new in town and dont know ANYBODY...and no one talks in my classes...... very dark thoughts all the time :(

Oh, loneliness is very hard indeed, I can understand how you feel.

But, I want you to know that you are never alone. Ever. There is always someone there to help you, give you an ear and open arms to take care of you and hear you.

Being new is always difficult. New to a town, even a different school, or a job. Just give it a little more time. I know there are people who just don't talk to much in class but start introducing yourself. Be the first to say something. I think maybe they will all appreciate it. Everyone needs a little push. It might just work for you.

Prayers for you.
And I hope you post here more often! :)
And know that God is there for you, even when its so hard sometimes, and when it feels like he is not there. He is.
I described this to someone really awesome here the other day and I like to say it to you as well if you don't mind. For me God is the most amazing love. There are days when his helping hand is so clear and vibrant, but there are also most days (a lot of days) when its just a simple breeze. It is like a gentle touch on the cheek. We sometimes, miss it and feel his is not there for us, but he is. Know that it is up to you to take hold of your life and your abilities and your faith in yourself and take control. I know it is easier said then done, but last year around this time, I was so depressed, I could not get out of bed for days (weeks). My mind would not shut off, and then I realized it was taking over my life. I was becoming someone I was not. And I took control. Prayer and asking for help. It was the best thing I could do for myself. So, maybe finding out what is that best thing for you. It might take time, but you can.

I hope my words somewhat help. Its the best I can do now. :)

Hey Elmcer,

Remember that the only person responsible for your actions and attitudes...is you.

From what you've said, you need to get into counseling. Try calling your church to see if they have a counselor on staff, or your local social services office to see where they can direct you. Or if you have health insurance, call them and ask for a list of counselors in your area.

Hope you'll take some steps to get out of this dark place
