So can we agree the St. Malacy prophecy is DEBUNKED?

Wait a minute, wait a minute, not so fast!^_^ I just read a post that said St. Francis of Asisi's father was named Pietro and the New Pope to the name of Francis, and something like that. ;) LOL. They will fix it, give them some time. I have always thought the St. Malachy prophecy was very interesting for the way it was written and for the way it turned out. Though, the new Pope is not,imo the last called Peter the Roman, I will be watching to see what happens.

Argentinian. He was born in Buenos Aires. His parents may have been Italian immigrants, but he's still Argentinian.

    He's neither a Peter nor a Roman.

The only thing needed to fulfill the Prophecy of the Popes would be a Cardinal of Italian descent and the new Pope Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the son of Italian parents (Roman).

Look hard enough, I'd be surprised if not quite a few Italians and Italian immigrants in other countries don't have at least one ancestor that, at one time, lived in Rome.

But people will stretch whatever they want to stretch to reach the predetermined conclusions they want to reach.

the prophesy has failed. it's not the end of the world, or the end of the roman church.

    Italian /= Roman

For heavens sakes, there is a lot more to Italy than just Rome.

I don't necessarily believe the prophecy is true, I'm not taking sides. But I do find it very interesting the prophecy relatively predicted the last 111 popes. Mathematically is seems odd to get 0.99107% of them right, yet miss the last one.

Again not taking sides on this, but if you look at the prophecies (theres a complete list on Wikipedia) you will find the prophecies don't predict the literal name of the Pope. Given this it would be odd for him to be named Peter. But then again who knows.

    You should show your calculations.

I would but you don't realize what work went into calculating that extra .00107%. Its really complicated stuff.

I can supply the .99% if need be.
