Those who oppose funding of Planned Parenthood will need to answer that question, since they brought it up in the first place.
Actually, you are the one who first brought up abortions in this conversation. You brought it up to @Hammster

People can repeat racist memes and arguments and propagate racist beliefs without being aware that they are doing so.
Right, but no-one wants to ever admit that they actually do this. So they defend rather than listen.

Thank you! I'm an Australian, and tend to only get involved in BLM conversations when it really hits the news. But BLM is a funny organisation in that I'm not sure how much "Chapters" actually integrate with the overall mission of the main homepage. That is, smaller local groups might be influenced by local members to go in a wild direction. But the BLM About homepage is quite different.

I think in many cases, the 'autonomous chapters' concept is used as an obfuscation and abstraction technique by which groups can do some things that most would find "extreme", but still insulate the entire group from criticism and grant themselves culpable deniability if one particular chapter happens to get caught up in a mess.

Similar to how the Hells Angels operate.

With regards to BLM, if it were just some random smalltime chapter that had more extreme viewpoints...for instance, if every other chapter was delivering a reasonable message, and it was just the Sheboygan Wisconsin chapter saying some of these concerning things...then I'd grant people the premise that it was merely an outlier mentality.

However, Washington DC (which is obviously at the heart of our nation's centralized government), Chicago, and Los Angeles aren't "smalltime cities" by any stretch.

It goes without saying that you'd think any political advocacy group (that had a chapter structure) would want to make sure their Washington DC chapter was on their best behavior...as with regards to perceptions from lawmakers, etc... that's going to be a highly visible chapter.

I agree....but one has to bear consideration of the validity of a term or concept in the first place...
