  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So 4 guys stand at the pearly gates...

entering Heaven is not about morality,
but rather obedience to God.
He basically is saying that we can only enter heaven His way, not ours.

I understand "Entering the Kingdom" to be a frame of mind, a state of being.
I you have the attitude of "I'm going to heaven and you aren't, nyah nhay!", when you are surprised that I am in heaven, and don't feel superior, then heaven to you is hell. Not until one humbles themselves before others will they understand that.

It's that kind of thing.

A prof of mine told me that there was an easy way to capture monkeys in the jungle. You cut a small hole in a guord, and put corn inside. The monkey would put his hand in, and make a fist, but couldn't get his hand out. Because he was greedy, he wouldn't let go, allowing him to run free, and you could easily walk up to them and capture them.

It is that same kind of trap that holds man.

Well, being a Universalist on the matter, I think that everyone will get to Heaven. It was through Jesus' sacrifice, through Him, that we were saved. So my answer would be: all three.

Yeah, I have to agree.
Either Jesus' sacrifice took away the sin of the world, or it didn't.
We don't "activate" it - no Instant Salvation.

The problem is that we, as men, try to decided who is deserving, and who is not. According to Scripture, none of us are. Murderers? Saul, before being called Paul, killed Christians. Some of the disciples were tax collectors.

However, those that practice love in their life will be able to enter the Kingdom much easier than people that simply spit venom all day, because there is no place for it in heaven. And being unable to spit their venom, and spit snide little comments in Jesus' name, it will probably be like getting a camel through the eye of a needle, spitting the whole way.

Perhaps they get their own separate section of the afterlife? *grin*

I mean, there seem to be quite a few different sects/religions that worship the God of Abraham that believe only their group is going to Heaven. They would not be happy in a Heaven that allowed other religions/sects. So then, for it to be Heaven, some people have to be in different "wings". "In my Father's house there are many rooms," and such.
