Also, most of the stuff on the internet are just pre-alpha releases that you can download from MSDN subscriber services. We were told they have gone back to the drawing board several times since those were released. They are not beta versions at all.
Ok :) If that's what makes you happy, then that's what you settle for. I'm not going to argue with you.

And on top of it their fixes far outnumber any other piece of software I have ever used
Excuse me, but there are _way_ more patches released for Linux and Linux based products. The problem with Windows is that A) more computers (with stupid people on them) have it, and B) some bugs they don't even fix, so these bugs become features. This isn't in Windows itself, but in IE. However, since Windows comes with IE by default, it's basically part of windows.

If you pick any one release of Linux and any one release of Windows and compare the number of bug fixes and security patches and so on and so forth coming around post-release you will find that windows scores much higher than linux. Nothing to do with stupid people. Nothing to do with IE. It is down to Microsoft releasing too early and caring too much about "features" and having poor quality assurance and mid-stream review.

There is no reason that most of these bugs could not be uncovered and eliminated pre-release by stringent testing and worrying more about quality and less about quantity of dung bundled.

Oh, and you're excused ;)
