I was a Micron conference and saw a sneak of the Longhorn beta. Everything I saw had MAC OSX written all over it. I love how 3-4 years down the road, Windows "revolutionizes PC's" with MAC features and software that has been around forever. Beta release will not be out until Jan-Mar '05, then 12-18 months after the beta is out the actual OS will release. Pretty sad all their money they can't get a decent OS out in a year or less.

hahahaha, "XP works like a charm", lol what a joke. With all the security flaws and incompatibilities with everything XP isn't that great, especially the oem versions, they lock up and crash all the time......If I didn't need to have windows on my system for compatibility reasons I'd switch to something else also.....like DOS 6.2, lol.....

I prefer XP, for the most part, but I do have a Gentoo Linux partion I use occasionally...if I spent the time to customize it more to my liking i'd be using Linux all the time, but I'm lazy like that.

I use XP daily and I love it. It works great and it's very fast when used with 1GB of Dual Channel Enhanced Latency OCZ PC3500 DDR

depends on how you use it mate, and how you set it up, i havnt had any dramas with XP and i have had it on my computer for nearly a year. the only thing that i have had a problem with is older hardware (my speakers) windows wont recognise the drivers.. but apart from that i have had no troubles what so ever.

The beta of Longhorn is out now

I'd like to see proof of that, since a top Microsoft exec was at this conference and told us exactly what I reported. He also said the delay on Longhorn is due to the security issues and bugs they are currently working on with XP. Chances are a newer version of XP will be released this fall with all the patched and sucrity updates built in.

Microsoft bashing is fun. Of course it is! Always pick on the big guys who won't really get hurt. It's a much better way to go than picking on the little guys who will suffer drastically from it.

And WinXP is far from perfect. What bugs me about Microsoft isn't that their software isn't perfect, no software is! What bugs me is that they would have you believe that it is perfect. They hide bugs unless they have a fix for them. And on top of it their fixes far outnumber any other piece of software I have ever used! Why not just test it properly Bill???

Think about this for one moment. A public preview has been offered on a website. Where do you think it came from, and how many friends does the website author have. Just to name one.

Most of what that site shows is nothing more than XP with blinds. I can add all those features on a basic XP box now. I think a top MS exec saying anything out on the internet is nothing close to what Longhorn will be goes a lot further than guys hacking and throwing up their so called reviews on Longhorn on some website.
