Snakes, scorpions, rats, lizards, frogs - who keeps them?

Hi,

How many people on here think that the young person of the future will be wanting to keep more 'dangerous' animals as pets rather than the usual cat, dog, goldfish, rabbits or pet rocks?

I think it's about time that society changed its values as to what is an 'acceptable' animal to keep as a pet - just as long as you haven't got a lion, mountain wolf or streetpreacher running around in your back yard.

I have two rat snakes. The male is gray and about five feet long. The female is albino colored and six feet long. Kewl little guys to have for pets in addition to my black male cat

I've had snakes. I've also had rats-- they're wonderful pets, very sweet and friendly.

I used to have pet rats. They were very sweet, intelligent animals. They are very clean (one was even littler trained!), and unless you get them from unsafe sources they won't give you any diseases.

They're a great pet for apartment dwellers.

I've had lizards and frogs. I really don't think they are meant for pets though. You can't really have a relationship with them like you can a dog or cat. I think they're really meant for the wild.
