I don't know about the carrot, though. Mouse? That could go wrong in so many ways...
A little Eau de Grenouille (frog) might work. I regularly hear the screaming of frogs at night when they are being menaced by cats or snakes (some frogs actually scream)

Thank you for the thread, by the way. It's a bit of pleasant light-hearted entertainment now that Melbourne is back in stage 3 pandemic shut down.
You're welcome. The diversion was intentional - the snake just gave me an excuse - I was getting sick of the pandemic/Trump/race-hate Merry-Go-Round we appear to be on at the moment.

I'm aware of the Vic problem. We have a total ban on Victorians bringing their dirty habits up here. Is there still a ban on church congregations? You must be turning into an expert on online pasteurization by now.

I'm not sure if the Vic problems are a blessing or a curse for me. I'm sorting out my sister's Melbourne deceased estate through Victorian solicitors and I have a 99 year old father living alone happily in Gippsland.

The curse is Covid 19 preventing me from going down to Vic to sort things out personally.

The blessing is Covid 19 preventing me from going down to Vic to sort things out personally.

We had a brief respite where small congregations were allowed, but now Melbourne is back to no worship services at all. As for me, I am in a weird limbo where I have left one parish, but my new one won't have me start until November because pandemic. So not so much online pastoring as doing some professional development stuff and wondering whether the virus might ease up enough to let me get a bit of locum work.

Sorry for the loss of your sister. If you do make it down here personally (before I leave to go to NSW!) I'd be glad to shout you a beverage of your choice. :)
