smoking

Please pray that God will help me stop smoking. I first got into it when I was with this theater company I was working with. Being the youngest there, I felt pressured to conform and soon gave in.

I stopped when I got really sick and had to take birth control pills to balance my hormones.

Recently, I was being pressured by my Mum to lose weight. Sometimes she says it directly and sometimes she gives me these compliments that have hidden insults inside them. Like, whenever I reach out to get more food she says "you're really losing weight, dear. keep it up. i know you're looking even prettier now that you're getting thinner."

And a while ago, I bought a pack and smoked two sticks... I've thrown the pack away already but I'm still tempted to smoke again...

I'm sure the devil is trying to put me down again because I'm in the process of submitting an application for a ministry I would like to join aside from the others I'm already in.

I feel like such a hypocrite because just last sunday, I taught a lesson to my youth group kids and I told them that our walk with God will be filled with hurdles but that shouldn't stop us, we should ask for God's help to aid us in overcoming these hurdles...

Quitting smoking is a very difficult thing! But if and when you give in, don't give up!! Take it one day at a time, one hour at a time or even one minute at a time if you have to!! Try and get through one minute at a time.

Honey, we're ALL hypocrites in some way or other ...besides, aren't you asking for God's help in overcoming this hurdle?

Father,

i pray to you to help my sister carry on with what she is doing, keeping a healthy life and not smoking. I have faith in her Lord and i know you are with her. Yes smoking might help with stress but so does a bit of exorcise. Help her to see that you are helping her Lord and that others are proud of what she is doing. I pray that you will help her every step of the way!!!

Giving up smoking isn't easy for some. I use to smoke but i gave it up because I realized it wasn't me. I was very young when i quit... i was 14!!! I only did it because i thought that i had to (my older sister smoked) and once i realized i shouldn't do it, I stopped. Smoking did nothing for me, i thought it was a self-esteem builder but it really was a cover up for all the low self-esteem i had. I knew why I did it, I did not have an addiction, so giving it up was simple.

Father, please be with my sister. She wants to be healthier. Find a better means of her to deal with the stress that we are all dealing with. We all have our ways...find hers.

Lord be with our sister and help them to know that smoking can be dangerous as I have an uncle who smokes as well as she needs to do other things that are less stressful and healthier to her health. In your name we uplift her to you, amen!!
