  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Smoking isn't suicide. People don't generally smoke with full intentions of killing themselves, they do it for pleasure knowing it may kill them.

The same logic behind smoking being suicide could just as easilly be used to say rock climbing, white-water rafting, or even flying is suicide.
I am a smoker and all my friends smoke and yeah there is the risk of dying and all, but smokers usually don't KNOW it can kill them, most of them truely believe it won't hurt them...or the most that will happen is a smokers cough...

Its my personal opinion that the air quality in the streets of any big city is more harmful to the lungs than second-hand smoke.

Most smokers want to quit but cannot.

A non smoker cannot understand what it is like to be addicted to nicotine.

I think in evaluating the morality of smoking, you must take into account the intent - nobody intends to get addicted. And once they are it is SO hard to quit.
If I'm addicted to going around and beating people up, that doesn't excuse me any more than it does a smoker smoking next to non-smokers. Oh no, I didn't intend to get addicted too! It's SO hard to quit.

Addiction is not an excuse to go around harming other people.

What if you only smoke around other smokers? i dislike smoking around non smokers because I don't like to make people uncomfortable.

I don't think it's as bad, since the other smokers would be used to it. But if they don't like it, then you shouldn't smoke around them either. Of course, it would be hypocritical for that person (the smoker who's not smoking) if they smoked around others too.
