• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi ya all. I'm quitting smoking here soon. Going thru a program here in Florida. Just wanted to know if I can have this fforum as part of my support. I've quit before cold turkey... ah..no not again! I feel the Holy Spirit convicting me on this one and I kknow I can't do it alone. I'm doing what they call a "mini-quit" which is cutting back on smokes until the patches and gum get here. It's hard even doing this! Freaks me out now just thinking of no tobacco at all. Trying not to go there but the thought keeps popping up. Who knows the patches and gum might help. Also I need to keep sensitive to the Holy Spirit above all. Thanks for your ear, appreciate it:bigeye:

Hi sahjimira. I'm happy to support you. I had my last cigarette on 12th Feb 2015. The first few weeks are always the hardest. I went cold turkey but I also cut out the people and places in my life that I associated with the habit. Drastic I know but I was suffering chronic chest pains and extreme shortness of breath. Nearly a year later and I feel so much healthier. If you need to vent then I'm here. God Bless and I will pray for you.

Congrats! I will be here to respond with support. I quit by using an e cig taper. Got off the e cig and was clean for a year, then relapsed a few times thinking I could be a social smoker. I went off cold turkey in the end. It has been almost a year and a half. I still think about them on rare occasion but I have learned my lesson and won't go back. Congrats again and good luck!
