  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm from Windsor and I have to tell ya sister, Chatham is NOT a small town!!

Now I live in Egmont British Columbia, population 160!

Now THAT is a small town!!!

We have one general store, a post office, a restaurant/pub, a fish plant, a wilderness camp and a community hall.

p.s. How's the Wheels Inn? My sister used to go there for New Year's!!

I think my home town of Dryden, ON(8000 or so people) has the largest Canadian Tire between Winnipeg and the Soo.

Sudbury is not small! lol, I guess it might be if you came from Toronto. Hey North Bay, I like that place.

Welcome to Cf by the way.

14500 is most definitely a city. In fact, anything 5000 and over is a city here.
lol, that's because it's Saskatchewan.

I believe that, at least in Ontario, a town 'applies' to become a city. A city has different tax benifits then a town does. My high school City of Dryden is 7-8000 people. They voted to become a city because, as I understand it, it was easier on taxes or they got more government money annually. Something like that.

A nearby town, Fort Frances, has a population of 9000 people. It is concidered a town, not a city, even though Dryden has a smaller population.

In other words, Toronto could decide to be a small town if it wanted to?
That was pretty funny.

No, I believe that there is a size limit. If Pembroke is about 15,000, then it must be more then that. I've always thought that after 10,000 a town had to be called a city.

Ok, well then that's what I want to know - what's the size limit in Ontario. I know that it differs by province, and here in SK it is 5000.
