So, I am in the process of starting up a new business. Or to be more accurate, since I have absolutely no desire or intention to become personally wealthy, a new social enterprise. I don't consider it spamming to post the temporary site here at www.fundatree.org, since I'm not asking of you to buy anything or donate any money. Indeed, I don't even have a corporate bank account set up, yet, (that's a work in progress) so you couldn't even if you wanted to.
But at the bottom of the page, I list a slogan. It is, of course, based on Karl Marx: "From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his needs". I am no communist, but I do like this idea. I like the idea that everyone gets their basic needs met, and that those with the deepest pockets contribute the most towards that end.
But, at root, Marx is a trifle too authoritarian for my taste. To my way of thinking, The Kingdom of God on earth is a voluntary type of institution; if you don't like it or want it, you don't have to subscribe to it. And being a Christian, if only of a sorry kind of sort, and never overtly, I wanted to reflect that voluntarism in my slogan, as well as hint at the possibility of a newer, kinder, better, space-ship earth for us all.
So I have: "From each, according to their charity; to each, a more sustainable world."
What do you think? Whatever constructive comments and criticisms you might have are welcome, as are humorous asides, helpful reflections, philosophical and political bones of contention, improving ideas, strategy suggestions, etc. But it would help if you looked at the fundatree site first, so you get an idea of where of where I am coming from, and what I am looking to achieve.
Thanks, all, in advance, for your various inputs.
Best wishes, Strivax.
