When we were first married we went to bed at the same time always. I find the problem with that, is that my husband likes to stay up late and sleep in. I tend to go to bed at 10:30, 11:00 so I can be up early to take care of the baby. My husband can't seem to cope well with that first thing in the morning, especially on the weekends. We compromise, and I always have a nap on a Saturday afternoon. I just love those after lunch naps. lol. Mostly on the weeknights, we go to bed within 1/2 hour of each other.

Would it be completely shocking to hear that not only do we keep different hours, but we also have separate beds??? And we're both perfectly fine with it. Something romantic about "visiting" each other at night. :)

It's nottotallyshocking. There are times when I wish I had my own bed and bedroom too!

I have kind of a hard time sleeping when there's someone else right there in the same room, let alone the same bed. Kind of a light sleeper. I prefer to fall asleep first so that snoring is less of an issue

We have always gone to bed at the same time, but there are times when he is falling asleep on the couch and I tell him to go ahead up. His response is "but I want tot spend time with you" which is sweet, but only when he is not snoring!

My fiance and I both work nights, so our sleep schedules are a little wacky.

I work midnight-8, he works 11-7, sometimes he will go to bed before I get home, but usually he stays up until I get there and we go to bed together. Lately its been really weird though, we'll go to bed at about 9 am, but I'm awake by 1pm (which is only 4 hours of sleep), then I end up staying up till I have class in the evenings and going back to sleep after class. The weekends are even worse, when I try to switch back over to being awake during the day I'll sleep like 16 hours straight. I look forward to when we're done with school and our schedules will be a little less crazy (at least until we have kids.)

We don't go to bed together as often as I like because my husband sometimes has to work late nights. Sometimes he even has to get up after he's gone to bed. At least he doesn't have to go to an office though, just down to our computer.

I would love to sleep with my husband during the week, but he works the night shift. So, thats not an option. But, on the weekends we do go to bed at the same time. During the week, I look forward to sleeping with him on the weekends. Hey, this is this weekend...I'll be sleeping with him...Yay!!!!

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. It depends on if he wants to stay up longer so he can be on the computer. He has been writing a couple of books for a few years, and he just sits and types and types. I'm so uninspired about writing stories, I don't know how he does it!

Anyway, I'll go to the bed and read. I try to wait for him to join me. Other times I get too tired and fall asleep first. But most the time we go to bed at the same time. And that's the way I like it. ^_^

I'm terrified about after we get married because my Fiance is a night person, and my job makes me go to bed early and wake up early! (I can't function right without 8 hours!)

I'm scared that it will limit our time together even more; so he is working on going to bed earlier before the wedding to please me :)

So what do people who are light sleepers do when they can't seem to sleep next to someone? Does it change over time and you get used to it?

I'm a light sleeper and I'm afraid of inflicting my vast need for sleep on my husband-to-be when we get married, since I think he'll need about 2 hours less time in bed to get a full night's sleep than I do.

My husband is a light sleeper. I sleep through a bomb, hubby used to wake me sometimes to feed our baby, because I slept through him crying occasionally.

I think he has gotten used to it now, I haven't heard him complaining about my snoring/talking in my sleep for ages now.

My husband and I go to bed at seperate times, usually. Me first, then him. But he always makes a big deal about coming to bed because I sprawl all over the place and so he has to push me over and then we laugh and say goodnight. It's fun. I sprawl on purpose (shhh....) 'cause I like the little bit of attention before I fall asleep for good.

We tend to go to bed around the same time. If we don't, the second one to bed has to push some unhappy beagles out of the way to squeeze in anywhere. ;)

About light sleepers - I definitely fall in to that category. For a while i was only getting between 2-4 hours of sleep in 15minute - 1hr increments. Not fun. Most of that was because of dogs though, not someone else in bed...of course, our first mutual purchase was a king sized bed, so that helps with the 'space' issue! Things have pretty well settled now, but my husband still tends to be up at least an hour before me on most weekends.

Hubby works nights, so I tend to stay up till he gets home. Or i did anyway, until school starts again for the kiddos then i will be going to bed I think before he gets home because I have to get up with the kids. But I function fine with little sleep, so either way I am happy.
Hubby is a soft sleeper, and he will constatantly wakeing me up to tell me that I am snoring.LOL But I can sleep through anything, I tell him that he snores too, but he still doesn't believe me.
