Fashion brands face scrutiny over Xinjiang cotton

"Global retailers are facing scrutiny over cotton supplies sourced from Xinjiang, a Chinese region plagued by allegations of human rights abuses.

China is one of the world's top cotton producers and most of its crop is grown in Xinjiang.

Rights groups say Xinjiang's Uighur minority are being persecuted and recruited for forced labour.

Many brands are thought to indirectly source cotton products from the Xinjiang region in China's far west."

This is terrible. China does so many things against humanity I don't know why we continue to do business with them. They literally kill people to sell their organs. Slavery is the norm there, in one fashion or another. Terrible. China is an ancient nation with a rich history and culture and it's a shame that they are a dictatorship under a draconian government that has no regard for human life. The fact that the USA gladly does business with them shows that we are almost as bad as they are.

Before blaming the US, check to see how many things you bought this past month that were made in China. If you want to fix this, be the change.

On the flip side, how many things do we HAVE to buy from China, either because all the US manufactures went offshore to lower costs and increase their profits or the average person can’t afford the American made product? Case in point, I always hear about people saying to buy made in USA items but scoff at having to pay $90.00 for a pair of pants.

I work for a company that makes 100% Made in USA items. They are designed in the USA by Americans; they are built by American labor paid a living wage from American sourced components, and they are guaranteed for life, but they cost 5 to ten times what the Chinese slave labor produced product whose profits go to support the Communist government and the People Liberation Army.
