I used Faendol's training to his limit. I have 50 archery now in the first few hours of playing a new character.
Also, although I'm quite good at alchemy, I never noticed a really, really, really good combination of reagents that are mostly very easy to find. Its so simple: Blue Butterfly Wing + Blue Mountain Flower = Fortify Conjuration (I think) and Damage Magicka Regen. I had no alchemy perks, very low skill (15 I think) and no alchemy skill enchantments on and it came to be a value of 303 before haggling.
I know of a few more of those trainer companions, and I'll be striving to get them enlisted soon. First though I want to do some side quests, and skill reward quests.
I have decided to go with heavy armour. Balgruuf gave me a suit of Elven armour, and it looked ridiculous on my male Nord. So, I imagine glass would look even more out of place. Just like Alvor the smith from Riverwood said the first time I met him "Iron or steel is what you need. Leave that fancy Elven stuff to the Elves.". I'm just pondering how to incorporate heavier armour into a viable suit for sneaking. Maybe...maybe light chest armour and heavy gauntlets, greaves, and a helmet, with a cuirass in reserve for when I'm detected.
If you join the dark brotherhood you get a set of shrouded armour (true its light armour but can be upgraded) and makes a significant difference to sneaking especially the boots. you also get paid significant amounts of money to kill people!
If you level up the sneaking skill you can get a great perk like dagger damage times 15...provided you sneak up and kill them...only the most powerful foes are still standing once you slit their throats. (though I wouldn't want to chance my dagger against a dragon!)
Joining the thieves guild is fun too...get paid to burgle peoples houses...provided you don't get caught!
Dragon armour is pretty handy but you have to have 100 on your smithing

If you use a dragon shout too much in town such as Spirit wind to move quickly the guards come and tell you not to.

I found some info about it while back, but it was officially revealed the other day. I'm ridiculously excited.
It's completely up to you how to proceed. What I realized pretty quickly is that there's no way you can do everything with one character and not have a completely unbalanced/unrealistic character. I finished the main quest with my first character and also did a fair number of side quests on that playthru. Then I did separate characters for the Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, etc.I just found out that skyrim has a short story line (3 acts) and a LOT of side quests. So should I do side quests first or wait till I finished the main story line while doing side quests along the way.

There have been clues in Skyrim patches about updates to come. Some are more vampire animation. That along with the name "Dawnguard" lead me to believe it's some kind of vampire hunting faction.
My son plays that way. It's cool to watch him sneak and slash.I'm playing a thief dual-wielding Orcish daggers. Why did I not try this before??

Yes there is. I believe it's called Assassin's Blade and it's a perk. Once you get that, and if you're pretty decent at sneaking, you can basically kill anything with one swipe.There's something like a X15 Bonus for daggers right?
