  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sirius Station #94, Folktown, presents 50 years of folk, blues, and bluegrass music.

Performers and/or songwriters have included: The Kennedys, Kate Wolf, Ralph Stanley, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Indigo Girls, Lightnin' Hopkins, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Phil Ochs, Richie Havens, Livingston Taylor, Tom Rush, Fairport Convention, Donovan, John Sebastian and the Lovin' Spoonful, Leo Kottke, and many more.

I'm old enough that I had a babysitter introduce me to the Limeliters and the Hootenany television program in the early 1960's. It's influenced me since then. Of course, some songs promote sin and immorality but many provide edification and delight. Listen, learn, and discern. Spit out some seeds, turn it off for a song or two if you must, but enjoy the orange.

It's a nice mix with no commercials. Broadcast from NYC.

I started listening to this on Sirius satellite radio in a rented car from Hertz. On the internet, after going through a no-cost registration, you can also listen to 20 minutes at a time by first going to http://www.sirius.com.

A nice feature of the Sirius format is that the name of the performer and the name of the song is typically displayed while you're listening.

Sirius has over 100 stations or channels with music, talk, etc on the other stations.
