  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No proof, no support, no scriptures, nothing, aside from some weak inferences taken out of psychology. Psychology???? Are you kidding me? You're actually going to cite as authoritative source a "science" that is based in evolutionary humanistic theory?
You are right to be wary of Psychology, but I fear that you have misunderstood it. Psychology has a poor history (starting with Freud and his silly sexual stages) but it has become much more scientific (and reliable) in the last 40 years. At the same time, Psychology often fails to explain why things happen...

About the dreams...i personally believe that dreams most often reflect what we've been thinking about - however i do believe that dreams can be spiritual. Sometimes God speaks to us through dreams and I don't doubt that the forces of evil would also try to 'speak' to us or at the very least 'tempt' us...

I would encourage you to pray every night before going to sleep. i used to have these 'sinful' dreams and since I started praying every night I haven't had one. I continue to dream, but these dreams are absent.

You can interpret that however you like...i would simply encourage you to pray - and don't be hard on yourself. We are not responsible for one comes into our minds (unless of course we are watching something we shouldn't be) - we are responsible for what we do with what comes into our minds.

God bless you.

I just read the most interesting article. The author was investigating "sinful" dreams, and he found diaries going back all the way to the 1600's and discovered that "sinful" dreams are more prevalent among unmarried, celibate Christians than the general population, AND when the celibate Christians get married and have happy sex lives, the dreams disappear. The author researched over 1000 personal journals from 1680 to 2001 and found the results to be very consistent. Happy active sex lives reduce the numbers and frequency of "sinful" dreams, but when sex lives get interrupted for more than 6 months at a time (as in difficult pregnancies, war, travel, military service, marital separations, etc), the sinful dreams return. A pattern of sinful dreams is a warning that a person's sex life is lacking.

So if you are having sinful dreams, it means...

Well, apparantly, we're not the first group of people to think about the subject. :)
