• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I voted yes, but not by our own doing. We are sinless not because we do not sin, but because Christ took our sin upon Himself; and destroyed it on the Cross!
I agree
though we'd probably disagree on how he took sin.

but still i agree =P

Sinless

I find it interesting that most popular Bible versions do not use that particular word except for this translator....YoungsLT :sorry:

Blue Letter Bible - Search Results for YNG
"sinless"
occurs 1 time in 1 verse in the YNG

Young) John 8:7 and when they continued asking him, having bent himself back, he said unto them, `The sinless/anamarthtoV <361> of you--let him first cast the stone at her;'

Strong's Number G361 matches the Greek ἀναμάρτητος (anamartētos), which occurs 1 time in 1 verse in the Greek concordance of the KJV

361. anamartetos an-am-ar'-tay-tos from 1 (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of 264; sinless:--that is without sin.

i think its possibly to actually become sinless. i dont believe Christ lived a sinless life just so He could be a spotless sacrifice, but also that it could therefore be possible for us. He defeated sin so that we could come out from under its power.

I think it would probably require divine intervention,

But maybe if you were born with some kind of neurological disorder that made it impossible for you to do wrong, or were born with the highest capacity for ethical and morale behaviour, then maybe...

I don't think it's possible to be born without sin
Other than being born a second time

1 John 1:8-10 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."
I love those verses :D

That is exactly why I voted no. :D
Why would you vote no after reading those?

I can see why though if you separate them all
But put together doesn't say it's impossible to be without sin
But rather if we confess we will be
But those who say they are without or say never have sinned are liars
You have to confess

When our passover the Lord came, he took all leaven with him.
In him, we are truly unleavened
But if there is any leaven, even a little, we're no longer unleavened

Anyways the false doctrine of a Christian being with sin just stems from not understanding the law witnessed the Christ. Christ fulfilled the sacrificial law and he did it by taking all our sin first through john the baptists ministry of baptizing him. So, those who believe in his blood only find it easy to say "It is impossible to be without sin" Since they do not believe he took their sin.

Anyways let's not debate the baptism thing :)

If one defines sinless in the sense of being justified through the merit of Jesus Christ alone in the sight of a holy God, then all believers in Jesus Christ are sinless. However, the common understanding of sinless is becoming, through one's personal holiness and obedience to divine Law, without sin and incapable of sinning. This is the common view of sainthood in Traditional churches. It is this view that I take strong exception to and, I believe, that John objected to in I John 1:10.

I do agree that everyone who has been accepted by God through faith in Christ are sinless, yes. Apart from works. We're unleavened by our passover sacrifice the Christ. Not the sacrifice, plus us doing stuff.

I never said anything about becoming incapable of sinning.
But even if you do sin, what makes you think it nullifies the sacrifice?
Do you have sin suddenly because his sacrifice was ineffective?

:hi:

Do you believe it is possible to be without sin in this life?
I am not talking about the body.
It is apparent he did not take away the 'filth of the flesh.'

That would depend on one's definition of "sin" - including how one would know if something was a sin . According to how many christians discuss it , all would go to Hell ( though they would not say that in a quote ) .

I voted "no," because I assumed that this was an "entire sanctification"-type question. After reading the discussion, perhaps I was wrong about the question's intent. But I know that I sin much and am forgiven more. This does not change the fact that I sin. If achieving sinlessness or perfection is ordinarily possible on Earth, I have never seen it. It doesn't mean that I'm disregarding the fact that with God all things are possible, nor does it mean that I'm jumping the gun on the 1 John verses.

The older I get, the more aware I am of my sins and of my struggles with the desire to turn to the self and away from God. Thanks be to God that he is faithful even when I am faithless, for I do not see a way to be sinless in this life. If it could be possible, that would be wonderful; for it would be a life that fully honored God at all times and in all ways. But as that does not seem possible, I will stick with confession, repentance, and the means of grace. :)
