I wish someone would explain to me how it is possible to have feelings for someone one does not know personally. I have certainly heard of it, but it has never made sense to me.

I think the internet can be just as effective as meeting someone in person, but it greatly depends on the people involved. For those who think it's an invalid form of meeting someone, is there no condition you could imagine where meeting someone online could yield a positive result on your personal life away from the internet?

you definately can develop feelings for someone online but you need to get to know them offline too
