it depends on the person i guess.

If you're actually open to the idea of meeting someone online then you're probably more likely to take the time to get to know someone well enough that you can find who they are to be attractive. If you've already made up your mind that its impossible or its something you don't want to have anything to do with then you're probably going to be guarding yourself against that possibility, conciously or subconciously.

So far I've yet to find much faith in dating someone off the net, it always either is only one sided or you aim too high and get shot down, may as well just have it happen in person at least you can see them walking away laughing instead of being blocked with no hint of whats up till you eventually give up. Real life seems to have more closure.
