CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Glasses give one the "professorial" look - very knowledgeable!
I defy that look when I smile or do something crazy.
But on the other hand if I put on a suit and a tie and I keep a straight face. . . I definatly have that look.
But I don't like keeping a straight face for very long though unless I'm trying to intimidate someone.

huh? I very rarely use intimidation unless I have to.
The last time I remember trying to intimidate someone was when a company who was sending us unsolicited fax advertisments and though I had repeatedly requested they stop they did not. I basically talked with the supervisor of the whole operation and told her that I would have the attorney general of the state of Indiana all over her behind if this didn't stop. . . BTW they stopped. But I didn't meet anyone face to face in that one either.
The biggest factor in one of those cases is doing your homework. Have a log of when the faxes where received along with a log of your request of them stopping. On top of that have the particular section of Indiana state code which says that what they are doing is illegal.
Then you call up talk to the supervisor and basically say I have this log and this is illegal in the state of indiana by state code Chapter 36 Title 7 Section 4 Verse 12. (I totally made those numbers up cause I don't feel like looking up the actual law again.) And then you tell them that if you receive one more that you will be in contact with the attorney general's office.
Basically I played a little amatuer lawyer to rattle their cage.

Hey, when I retire from the Air Force, I am so going for the hippy/professor look: corduroy jacket with leather patches on elbows, burgundy mock turtleneck, ponytail and granny glasses. Or even better, a vest and sailor shirt like Michael Caine's character in Children of Men (outstanding movie, BTW.)Glasses give one the "professorial" look - very knowledgeable!
