CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know... I am not sure where storm Noel is either. There was heavy rain and lightning earlier so I went around unplugging everything, but here I am... nothing happened yet... It was supposed to hit Nova Scotia 2 hours ago.

Yes and no. As an officer, I can elect to leave more freely than an enlisted man. However, there are times when you can't just leave. For example, if they send you to school, you owe time back for that, or after a transfer, you have to wait a year to retire or separate.
Or in my case, I can't exactly quit while I'm deployed to a combat zone.
I go over 20 in January, so in theory I can retire, but I'd lose my last three promotions because I havn't been an officer long enough I'll probably retire in the summer of 09, or 11, depending on circumstances and what they offer for my next assignment.
All I wanted was a tropical storm to blow me back stateside to see my kids.
