  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'd be interested in talking to some single mom's by choice! It would take a VERY strong person to set out on this path...I admire them!

My parents are in the process of adopting another sibling for my brother and me, and one of the people in their adoption class is a single woman. I am very impressed by her!

By choice or by chance, single mothers are definitely in a group of their own. Can't wait to chat with you all!

Im a single mom by choice. I have 3 month old twins. One boy and one girl.

Wow, twins! How is that as a single mom? I was worried that would happen to me. Not that I wouldn't love them. It just sounds hard. Do you have a lot of support? ALWAYS feel free to send me a private message. I'm here for you, I know how it can get sometimes.

Hello all you single moms. Any single mom's by choice out there?
Hi!

I don't know what you mean by choice!

I am a single mom. I made the choice to have a relationship outside of marriage...three children. It's a choice that I wouldn't make today...I fully believe that marriage and a sexual relationship go hand-in-hand.

If I didn't have children, I would adopt, though.

I was a single mum by choice, I am not with my daughters biological father in fact he has not seen her for over 4 years (she is 6). I am not single now though as I have a S/O. We don't live together but hope to get married some day.

Not sure what catagory you would put me in really.

Does your daughter talk about her biological father or ask questions? Does she any of his family? Does he ever call you...even if there is no contact with your daughter?

As far as she is concerned she does not know who he is, she asked my s/o if he would be her daddy and that was that.

Her father turned up on my doorstep last year and I gave him the number of my solicitor and I have heard nothing said.

She never asked about her biological father as she has no memory of him, she has not seen him since she was 18 months old.

He could not even be bothered to turn up to register her birth and has paid no maintenance. I want nothing to do with him at all. Everyone is allowed to make mistakes and mine was being involved with him.

Hmm, I was just going to ask the same :)
I am not one by choice, 15 dec will be the 1st anniversary of him leaving, and as I put my youngest 2 bed 2nite, I thought of how he will stay at his dad's 2morrow overnite, for the first time in his dad & girlfriend's new home... and said to myself, this is not how it was meant 2 be!

How did the overnight go? How old is your son? How did you do during the overnight?

It isn't how it is supposed to be at all...I think that, too.

I became a single mother by choice, I'm not a single mother now, I'm married now, not to my children's father.

I made the choice that it was better to be on my own then to be in a relationship where I was not going to be treated with love, dignity and respect. It was tough but I managed it, I even managed to get myself through university.

Even though I'm not a single mother now, I do know how difficult it is to be a single mother, the lack of respect you get from society at large, if you have more then one child, the assumptions that they are to different fathers. All the 'expert' opinions which tell you that your children are going to end up high-school drop outs and/or criminals. I didn't believe any of it and my kids turned out fine.

What I mean by a single mom by choice, is that you got pregnant on purpose without a partner, knowing that you would raise your child on your own. I did it via artificial insemination, other people adopt, some people are foster parents. All single moms are cool in my book, but that's what I meant when I asked.
