  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks for illuminating this. I have been castigated on this forum for suggesting this in the past. In fact I hold fully to the observation that the divorce rates have risen proportionatley equal with the average age that people are marrying. I beleive that feminism and economic motivators have persuaded people to believe that it is best to wait to get married. For example pornography "addiction". I have a problem with the addiction aspect because there are no demostratable withdrawl symptoms. But I dont beleive that the availability of pornography is the problem rather I believe the problem is the demend. Everywhere in biology we look the indicators are there that we should be marrying and having children earlier.

1. Womens reproductive systems begin degeneration at the mean age of 25.

2. The peak reproductive phase or "hyperfertility" for females lasts from the age of 15 - 21".

3. For a woman who has a baby before the age of 25 her chances of her body returning to pre pregnancy proportions is over 80%. For a post 25 YO oman the cance is only 25%.

4. After the age of 25 the cances that a baby born will suffer prenatal illness increasses exponentially with every passing year.

5. It has been demonstrated that mens' and women's sexual drives suffer depletion in their 30's due to waning testosterone and estrogen levels respectively.

6 For a post 25 YO woman the chances are much greater that the baby will have to be delivered by C section. Currently C-section births are at an all time high and increasing.

Of course I'm sure you know all this but still you'll get violent differeing responses from the other patrons here because it inherently suggests that with age a person becomes less attractive mate material with less of a chance of viably managing a relationship considering the vaiables involved. I think that implications in the biological realm definately carry over into the social realm and we are wittnessing a meltdown of that in society now. I thkink the whole crux of the problem rests on this. Those of us who struggle as such have people telling us constantly that "all you need is God'. Well thats fine and dandy but as you pointed out we still have these urges to deal with. Fact - if I am needy and sex becomes available I am going to grasp he opportunity. Either its going to be in a framework of holiness or it's going to be done in sin. I would rather have it in the former. It's vexing when someone comes along who (face value) appears to not be dealing with these issues and throws a guilt trip on you. I never had a problem with sexual urges so long as I had an avenue in which to disseminate them (and no its not a 2 hour stint at the local gym pumping iron). It's when I DONT have an avenue and they are still there regardless often growing stronger. Abstinence leads to more intensity as I have observed.

If God has blessed you with a low sex drive (or cursed the rest of us with a higher one) and has given you the ability to withstand feelings of loneliness and wanting a partner, I say go for it brother. Use your free time to serve God more, its not weird at all, just not common. It can be a very noble calling, just dont let it go to your head.

I try to use all of my free time
To let the Lord lead and teach me
Because there is more to life than just
Finding a spouse only
IMHO, that would be a waste of time
As well as a waste of life if
We did that all the time.
