Depends on the man and on how young you mean....they could also want to have a child (to give some men the benefit of the doubt.
Men can also get away with it more easily than a woman can. Men are more often with younger women than women are with younger men.
Might have something to do with how some women think men should be the provider of the family, thus a man who is older and has more life experience more often fits the bill, compared to a younger man.
Men can look distinguished and attractive at an older age, but women age differently and some men like younger women. These are also the men you should probably stay away from.
When there is too much of an age difference the older person often has more control in the relationship (but not always, of course).
I personally prefer a man who is a little bit older (for the maturity factor) but not too much for the latter reasons.

Too many men are attracted to youth and beauty and overlook the beauty that is around them. A few quotations on beauty:

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 30:31

To me, fair friend, you never can be old
For as you were when first your eye I eyed,
Such seems your beauty still.
--William Shakespeare

Beauty is all very well at first sight; but who ever looks at it when it has been in the house three days?
--George Bernard Shaw

She was a beauty in her youth a fact which she alone remembers
--Benjamin Constant

Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see Beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see Beauty never grows old.
--Frank Kafka

By plucking her petals, You do not gather the beauty of the flower.
--Rabindrath Tagore

Donny_B - thanks for those beautiful quotes!
I wish I could emblazon a couple of them on my Christian Mingle ad! ;)
It just seems the ads I look at, the men between 50-55 all are looking for someone 35-40. My younger female friends tell me they run into the same thing with the 45 age group - the guys are not interested in even talking to anyone within 10 years of their own age. Supposedly , we are all Christians so I'm hoping it's not some pervse thing but then I really don't get it! I was hoping for some radical burst of insight ^_^ *giggle* ^_^

Perhaps they never grew up or matured, or perhaps they are trying to live out some fantasy. It would seen odd to me to be romantically involved with someone who could be your daughter. Peverse in a way.

Beats me. I've known a few women that are around your age what I think are totally awesome. If I was 50ish I wouldn't think twice about wanting a relationship with them.

Ahhhhhhhhh. . . . but see? Therein lies the difference! ;) You have known women in that age group. . . . .men in this age group don't bother to want to get to know us! :sigh:

I'm glad you enjoyed those quotes. I found them here... :)

I think being on the same page spiritually and morally is more important than age considerations.

There is also the consideration of entanglements from the past. Ideally, you would want to find someone who has no such entanglements.

Unfortunately, this is becoming more of an arduous task as you discover individuals getting entangled at increasingly younger ages. :sigh:

good point GoldenGirl!

God's will, not mine, God's timing, not mine.

I still wonder as I scroll thru the "personals" both on secular and christian singles sites. . . . . . what's the deal?? Is it a desire for youthful attitude? Or desire of youth physical attraction? Or are they looking for someone to care for them in their infirmity? ;) ^_^

well, in what i've learned before, starting the age of 50 to 60, sex urges becomes more active again and men at that age are really attracted with younger women compared older ones....

Is that why all the Viagra & similar products??? ^_^
They have the urge but not the ability?
Hate to break this to you but woman in that age group renew our "urges" also. As Christians we are called to wait for marriage. . . . . . .

I don't know if you saw the TV Land special on this past week, but some of the stars from the old sitcoms from the 60s and 70s appeared...Tina Louise (Ginger) and Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) of Gilligan's Island still looked pretty good in what must be their 60's by now....Donna Douglas (Elly May of the Beverly Hillbillites who is also a devout Christian) had aged a bit, but it's the inner beauty that counts!:)

I have considered asking out a 48-year old I know, but she is not-yet-divorced...I am not even sure if it is proper to consider her even after divorced. And there are 3 more women who are unmarried at work who are in their late 40's and early 50's.

I am 43 and have lost a lot of weight recently, and people say I am looking younger. One of my co-workers said I looked 25....I'm sure she was kidding! But if so, maybe I am even eligible for the 20- and 30-somethings!

It's nice for a change, instead of being ignored all these years....now I just have to be very careful in making the right choice!
