The fact of the matter is, when I sin, I bring trouble into my life. Therefore, Jesus taught (you and) me not to sin (Matthew 4:17). I can’t figure out why so many Christians resist the idea that we should repent of our sin.

Of course that doesn't limit God so that He can't give to us when we haven't asked. It just means that as a general principle, the main reason why some people do not have is because they do not ask. Because it is the nature of God that He does things primarily as the result of and in answer to prayer.

It's like when Jesus said their sins were forgiven. He was stating a fact - he knew the Father in heaven had forgiven them their sins.

Which time and where do you get that? When did Jesus "announce" some had their sins forgiven. Hope you are not talking about on the cross. Those guys were punished in 70 Ad for crucifying the Son of God. They were not forgiven. But for Jesus' part, he forgave them. That is also how we are to do. We forgive and leave justice to God.

Only for a machine. For people, there are other factors. All the christians I know say that not every prayer they prayed was answered in granting their request. I do not know of any honest ones who say everything they asked for they got without fail.
