I do enjoy the simplicity, clarity and innocence of your posts. But don't take this the wrong way - and if you do, forgive me in advance - but you need to have more 'life' under your belt before you can imagine walking in other people shoes - imagination can only take us so far.
[bible]Matthew 19:14[/bible]
What does this verse mean to you?
Children, like myself, when reading the word of God have little or no "life under out belts". That is what makes the kingdom of God for such as us. Why? When we come to the Bible we believe it for what it says not because of what happened in such and such a situation. We have no preformed opinions, based on the way that life works. I believe that when God says, "Make Restitution Where Possible," he means it. Let God be true and every man a liar.

It's more than what you think it means.

Tell us something we don't already know. "Go and sin no more." Well, duh. It's more than just child-like naivete. Spitting out Scripture verbatim to someone who's struggling with life issues that surpasses are own is not only insensitive, but irresponsible. The best marriage counselors are not those who know the proper verses and Scripture for any given situation, but those who also have the real understanding, compassion, sympathy, and probably experience that they can genuinely relate to.

As a married person, I can probably relate better to the thread starter than those who are single. Not because I'm smarter or know more Scripture, but yes, because of experience. If the issue was, say, abortion, even though we'd all know the proper Scriptures on what God says about abortion, I'd think twice before I posted as I probably couldn't effectively relate to what a woman would be going through. Not because the Word of God is invalid, but because I couldn't genuinely understand what she must have gone through.

I'm mature enough to understand that in many things, we cannot genuinely put ourselves in another persons shoes unless we've been there ourselves. To think otherwise is profoundly arrogant or insanely foolish. So while the word of God is straightforward to understand, and child-like faith is desired, and the Kingdom of God is such, it doesn't mean a child quoting Scripture is the Kingdom of God.

A marriage is much more important than $20. I agree with the "life under the belt" thing. Sorry, Highway of Holiness. You need to read more scripture if this is how you feel. No more platitudes please. Hope I'm not hurting your feelings.

Sweet Cinni, you got me crying again. ha ha ha ha ha
