Well, your name only gets written into the Lamb's Book of Life and when it does, it doesn't get "blotted out" or erased. My pastor used the idea...just imagined if everytime we sinned, there were eraser marks and our names rewritten. Or if we sinned and died before we got the chance to ask for forgiveness.
Once we come to Christ, our sins are forgiven...like it was said above. We have been pardoned...but it doesn't take away from the crimes we've committed. It was just pardoned. I don't have to pay for my own sins. But I had to have committed sin for that sin to be pardoned right?? So I have committed sins.
The post. Not your thread.
People still commit sins.
All sin has been pardoned though.
People possess sin still.....
because they don't believe Jesus pardoned them.
God's forgiveness and mercy are conditional.
Because most people spend the majority of their bible reading in the Pauline epistles - they have forgotten this -
Forgiveness:
Matthew 6:15
Mercy:
Matthew 5:7
Going back to "what is your opinion on this?" and completely avoiding any actual contribution to the ongoing discussion:
There is sin in the world, yet there is none. Could I elaborate on this? No. The action of sin is there, and people continue to do so, Christians and non-Christian alike, but the difference lies in their hearts.
The majority of Christians acknowledge that they sin, but through the grace of God and repentance their sins are forgiven; that is not so different from believing sin has been removed but still takes place. Different wording and a different perspective, but not so different from each other as people seem to think, not really.
Edit: at least from what i'm reading in here. I can see why people think their views are vastly different but I see the similarities. If I were better at actual discussions of things relating to faith and sin i'd type an essay, but i'm not so I shan't.
Jesus Christ the son of God came into the world and did not sin even once. He bore the worlds sin on himself from his baptism to his crucifixion where all sin was judged. Resurrected the third day and now sits at the right hand of God.
Now my beliefs tell me that the Lord died with all sin. That is a good reason why I believe I have no sin, because He blotted it out with His actions. This is also why I do not pray for forgiveness of sins, because I only believe faith in Him and what He has done has atoned for me. Of course I am not supporting universalism, but to receive the remission of sins one has to repent and to believe in Him. Repent for me meaning to 'have a change of heart'. Nevertheless the un-repentance of one does not make void the gift the Lord given mankind. The Lord provided atonement, so all sin has been atoned for. He does not need to be sacrificed again, because He did it once for all.
What is your opinion on the whole matter?
... But people sin ... To me it is unchristian to say there is sin in the world...
It's very easy to get lost and go straight to hell I now see.
Does this mean anything to you?
1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
Yes, Jesus died for all, and all sin was placed on Jesus. Thanks you Jesus.
That said I believe most sin is centered around disobeying the 1st commandment to love God. Too many people in the world just haven't figured out or come to understand how much God loves them. If more people understood the Father's love for them, then they would enjoy worshiping Jesus and then would obey the 2nd commandment by loving others as they do themselves.
