• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We didn't have our girls dress up this year, both were pretty sick. Maybe next year though.:(

My grandson mentioned that there was a large amount of guys dressing as girls at school. Net stockings, purses, lipstick. Bet they had a hard time getting a date later that night.....and then...maybe not............?

^_^ Man, laughed my rear off on that one. Sad but true buddy, sad but true.

A man dies and goes to heaven.

Of course, St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates.

St. Peter says, here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in.

Okay, the man says, I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart.

That's wonderful, says St. Peter, that's worth three points!

Three points? he says. Well, I attended church all my life and supported its ministry with my tithe and service.

Terrific! says St. Peter. That's certainly worth a point.

One point! Ok I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter

for homeless veterans.

Fantastic! That's good for two more points, St. Peter says.

Two points! Exasperated, the man cries. At this rate the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God.

Bingo! 100 points! Come on in!

Hey everyone! Long time no see! I've been busy playing the Sims in my spare time and having a bit of a social life with my hubby.

Anyway, had a strange encounter today... after church, my husband and I went to Starbucks as there is one just around the corner from the church. We took a different route to get there than usual and came across... another Starbucks! Feeling adventurous, we went inside that one instead... only to find... my former Residence Advisor from when I was a dormie at good ol' Concordia (Edmonton). I haven't seen him in 4 years, or maybe 5. Anyway, we talked for a bit and he's now in seminary, though he did switch from LCC to ELCIC. It was a very strange encounter, since I had a random dream about introducing my husband to him about a week ago... very strange feeling of deja vu the entire time we were talking to him! LOL

Last night I was in the choir that provided backup to a trio of Italian tenors (hence my character's outfit ;) ). Thoughts from the concert:

- Italian guys sing really well
- Italian guys are hott
- They get very dramatic when they sing
- They like giving encores

:p

My husband and I spent the weekend in Des Moines. We saw The Sandman at the Funnybone. (a comedy club) He's a hypnotist. The show was hilarious.

I start my second session of para classes this Saturday.

Now I need to go lok for stuff to keep my class busy...

I'm "subbing" today. There's a student teacher, and apparently the rules of the school board are that if the teacher isn't in the room, a sub needs to just be in the room so they don't get in trouble. Thus, I've just been listening to algebra lessons all day long - pretty much the same one over and over again. However, the first one was different as they were an Algebra two class.

Pastor Weedon has posted an excellent homily for All Saints...go read. ;)

Apparently you can listen to the whole thing here.

Hey Melethiel, since I am not Lutheran any more...it probably isn't proper for me to be the self proclaimed president of the Pastor Weedon fan club. I am thinking I could pass the baton on to you and you could become the next self proclaimed president of the Pastor Weedon fan club. Your only responsibilities are to tell everyone about the great things Pastor Weedon has put out for people to read and to tell anyone who disagrees with Pastor Weedon that they are wrong! ;) :D

I just discovered Pastor Weedon because of you two... I had a nice email exchange with him.

I just saw/ outran my first tornado today. I was on Highway 141, heading NW when the Minburn/ Woodward tornado was coming through. I was going 90 mph to get out of the path- it was going to cross the highway. It was about 1/8- 1/4 mile from me. The adrenaline rush gave me a throbbing headache. :p They're estimating an F-3.
The ISU game was delayed by the Ames tornado.
I think January is the only month that Iowa has never had a tornado.

That would certainly give anyone an adrenaline rush! I'm glad you were able to maintain control of your car through it all.
I've only ever seen one tornado in my life, when I was about 7 years old, but we did have one go through the back yard and take a barn down, but I wasn't home.

The wind wasn't bad until I was well past it. I was a little surprised by that. The wind picked up closer to home. We're now having wind gusts in the 40-50 mph range.
I was surprised that the highway wasn't closed considering they knew it was coming. This thing was on the ground for 10- 15 miles.

Wow... what a rush that must have been. I hope nobody was hurt.

Tornadoes are one thing I worry about now living in Edmonton. They don't get them often here but when they do go thru the city they're pretty destructive. I'm a leetle bit obsessed with them (think they look beautiful) but find them terrifying at the same time. I'm glad you're okay!
