  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can't miss Sci-Fi Friday! Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, then Battlestar Gallactica, which is quickly becoming my favorite over the Stargates.!

I also love Monty Python. Trying to get my husband to take me to New York to see Spamalot.

SCI-FI friday rocks!

:sigh:

I love the new Battlestar Gallactica too (i had forgotten about that one - I don't watch it regularly enough)! I wish I had watched it from the beginning... There are so many sub-threads in the story, with all the episodes i've missed, I can't keep up with it.

I never got into the old BG and the new one I heard they gave a sex change to one of the main character that was male in the first one and is now a female. I just didn't see the excitement. I was a Star Trek fan anyway and anything else to me is boring. I am just not as into the sci-fi of the day as I was about 10 years ago.

Yea, it's kinda creepy that the new Starbuck is so attractive! ;)
Other than the basic premise of the story, it is pretty unique compared to the old BG. I would have been happier if they had called it something else.

I think it would have been better had they done a next generation thing. The girl could have been his daughter then.

Rose'll like this - the other day I went to the Library to check out "Holes" by Louis Sachar and before leaving, I took a look at the CDs and checked out a CD by John Michael Talbot.

Like I said it BG is not my cup of tea.

It's not my thing either... must be inherited from my mom, since my dad was timing contractions the night I was born on commercials while watcing BG and they didn't leave for the hospital til the episode was over. I was born a little over an hour later LOL

I guess my taste is more ecclectic (or eccentric? can't tell sometimes). I love Star Trek too, but my favorite is DS-9, which is everyone else's least favorite. I do have the first 5 seasons of TNG on DVD - only because they were part of a music store's liquidation sale. I wish a tv station I get would pick up Voyager - I never got to see much of it since it aired at different times every week... same with Enterprise.

Currently, I hacked my DVD player to play all Regions, and have been ordering Blake's 7 directly from the UK. It's a British science fiction series that aired 4 years in the late 70s and early 80s. Both Farscape and Andromeda can say that they got many of their ideas from Blake's 7.

I'm really upset that Dr. Who's aren't being released in the US quickly enough, so I'm considering ordering those from the UK as well.

My husband says that some of the Doctor Who Who episodes that are available in the US will never be released here due to copyright issues and licensing issues--something about they have to be aired on US TV first and THEN they can be released in North America. He's currently satisfying himself with buying Doctor Who audio books. While I don't care for the show so much (especially the older episodes) as it puts me to sleep, I quite like the 8th Doctor audio books :)

BTW, my husband spends as much time on his Doctor Who fan sites as I do lurking around CF LOL ...

Some of his recent art projects (he does 3-d modelling and graphics manipulation for fun):

The last three are book covers made for three of the audio shows.

Beautiful stuff...but then, of course it would be, its JMT!!! :D

Definitely beautiful stuff! I'm listening to it right now as I'm posting and reading things here.

Good music after this hectic day. All I can say is that grocery shopping at WalMart on a Saturday is not fun.

Wow those really take me back! When I was little, I used to fight to stay awake Sunday nights (11pm or 12am) to watch it through the fuzz on a small black and white TV... man I miss that show. I wish they'd bring 'em back.
