  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sin and Science

Sin is the willful breaking of a religious or moral law. And it's a fact that people in this world sin!

So how does evolution or science relate to sin and evil being in this world?

Where did sin originally come from?

Has sin and evil evolved as well?

These questions, of course are aimed at athiests, not christians...Christians know where sin and evil came from!

Evolution has nothing to say about "sin" or "evil". That's religion, philosophy, and culture studies, not science.

No, the scientific Theory of Evolution is purely biological in nature and has nothing to say about the development of society, religion, or morals.

Seesaw...Let me enlighten you....Sin does exist!

The bible tells us that the devil is the god of this world and anyone who is not saved or born again (spiritually speaking, born of the Holy Spirit) is under the power and influence of the devil.

And the devil has blinded you into believing everything but the truth!

It's easy to deny and simply say "I don't believe in something", but the fact of the matter is, we must all open our eyes and get real.

Sin and evil is evident everywhere.... and you know it!

Why then, is the word "sin" in our dictionaries, if it is not something real?

They don't add words to the dictionary just because something exists. They add the word after it's been used a few times in different ways.

Edited.

You will believe what other men say about evolution without finding the actual evidence yourself...Why's that?

LOL you do know you can see the evidence. You can look at the evidence anytime you want. No your wrong and this is my last post for to night. Others probably have there own opinion about this. I think evolution exists because there is loads of evidence backing it up, and I only believe in something if there is evidence backing it up.

"sin" is a real *concept*, but that does not necessarily mean it's a real thing. The word "sin" only makes sense in the context of a religious system, and usually requires a concept of absolute truth to make any sense. If you don't believe in God, it usually follows that you would not believe in "sin".

Note that "evil" is not the same thing as "sin" from a secular standpoint, though they may be closely related in Christian theology.

Excellent post kern. On the money.

Now, evolutionary psychologists (bless them) think that they can explain many psychological and sociological phenomena from an evolutionary perspective, but their track record is pretty lame so far. I think a deeper understanding of the biological basis for psychological and social systems is necessary before that becomes feasible.

Well the only evidence that exists for god is personal evidence. And if you want to rely on that then all religions are true, and which would mean there is more than one god.
