  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Bren,

I agree with you about the church needing to point out the sins such as "neglecting" a marriage as well and I'd like to add "gossiping" under the guise of "praying for someone" or pointing out the sins of doing any thing in excess...so someone who spends hours a week working out in the gym is just as deficit as the person who never gets off the couch. Heck, you can even attend church too much...in that you are busy 'serving' while neglecting your own family.

The Christianity is too quick at labeling things either "good" or "bad"...but most things are not that absolute.

I mean most people would consider vomit to be "bad", but for a parent whose child has swallowed something poisonous, vomit can actually be beautiful because it purges the body of the substance that could kill that child.

I agree,as a parent that's what you need. BUT there was this one time our 5 yr old swallowed a quarter, went down to his esophagus and we DIDN'T want him to puke. They had to fetch it out later,he survived.

I suppose there is a spectrum between the solid LAW and the other end of situation ethics. I would place myself nearer to the law,my fear and mistrust is that people would find a situational ethic for EVERYTHING!
