• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Sebastian if Blasphemy against the Spirit was 1 sin like swearing to the Holy Spirit and calling Him bad names... dont u think you would be dead now? afterall if there is no hope for you to go to heaven why should u live on earth any longer? God keeps people alive so they can repent.. If God surely thought u were that bad a sinner He would remove you quickly, why should you oppress people on earth? know what I mean?
No rather Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit in you telling you to repent of your sins for so long a time that you no longer feel sorry for your sins and DONT FEEL LIKE YOU NEED REPENTANCE , so you die without even being scared and sorry for your sins.. if you are saddened about your sinful state that means you havent commited it. If the Holy Spirit is still convicting you of sin that means there is hope for you.. obviously He is just convicting you of the sin that u did like any other sins - maybe it was calling the Holy Spirit bad names? l dont know what u did. So u confess to God and receive absolution through a priest. Now u can confess all other sins. Do u think there is three Gods? No the Son is One with the Holy Spirit .. saying a verbal word to the Holy Spirit is the same as saying a word to the Son Jesus.. its saying a word to God.
I hope I make sense. Dont be afraid brother and repent so you can ruin all the hard work of the devil to deceive you and seperate you from your Father who loves you deeply.

Pray for me too brother.

This sin could only have been done when Jesus was on earth
Mar 3:30 -

Because they said he had an unclean spirit. This was a sin against the Holy Spirit because Jesus did mighty works in the power of the Holy Spirit, and they ascribed the power to an unclean spirit.

This is from Matthew Henry's commentary

Mar 3:22-30 -

I. Here is, The impudent impious brand which the scribes fastened upon Christ's casting out devils, that they might evade and invalidate the conviction of it, and have a poor excuse for not yielding to it. These scribes came down from Jerusalem,
Mar_3:22. It should seem they came this long journey on purpose to hinder the progress of the doctrine of Christ; such pains did they take to do mischief; and, coming from Jerusalem, where were the most polite and learned scribes, and where they had opportunity of consulting together against the Lord and his Anointed, they were in the greater capacity to do mischief; the reputation of scribes from Jerusalem would have an influence not only upon the country people, but upon the country scribes; they had never thought of this base suggestion concerning Christ's miracles till the scribes from Jerusalem put it into their heads. They could not deny but that he cast out devils, which plainly bespoke him sent of God; but they insinuated that he had Beelzebub on his side, was in league with him, and by the prince of the devils cast out devils. There is a trick in the case; Satan is not cast out, he only goes out by consent. There was nothing in the manner of Christ's casting out devils, that gave any cause to suspect this; he did it as one having authority; but so they will have it, who resolve not to believe him.

II. The rational answer which Christ gave to this objection, demonstrating the absurdity of it.

1. Satan is so subtle, that he will never voluntarily quit his possession; If Satan cast out Satan, his kingdom is divided against itself, and it cannot stand,
Mar_3:23-26. He called them to him, as one desirous they should be convinced; he treated them with all the freedom, friendliness, and familiarity that could be; he vouchsafed to reason the case with them, that every mouth may be stopped. It was plain that the doctrine of Christ made war upon the devil's kingdom, and had a direct tendency to break his power, and crush his interest in the souls of men; and it was as plain that the casting of him out of the bodies of people confirmed that doctrine, and gave it the setting on; and therefore it cannot be imagined that he should come into such a design; every one knows that Satan is no fool, nor will act so directly against his own interest.

2. Christ is so wise, that, being engaged in war with him, he will attack his forces wherever he meets them, whether in the bodies or souls of people,
Mar_3:27. It is plain, Christ's design is to enter into the strong man's house, to take possession of the interest he has in the world, and to spoil his goods, and convert them to his own service; and therefore it is natural to suppose that he will thus bind the strong man, will forbid him to speak when he would, and to stay where he would, and thus show that he has gained a victory over him.

III. The awful warning Christ gave them to take heed how they spoke such dangerous words as these; however they might make light of them, as only conjectures, and the language of free-thinking, if they persisted in it, it would be of fatal consequence to them; it would be found a sin against the last remedy, and consequently unpardonable; for what could be imagined possible to bring them to repentance for their sin in blaspheming Christ, who would set aside such a strong conviction with such a weak evasion? It is true, the gospel promiseth, because Christ hath purchased, forgiveness for the greatest sins and sinners,
Mar_3:28. Many of those who reviled Christ on the cross (which was a blaspheming of the Son of man, aggravated to the highest degree), found mercy, and Christ himself prayed, Father, forgive them; but this was blaspheming the Holy Ghost, for it was by the Holy Spirit that he cast out devils, and they said, It was by the unclean spirit, Mar_3:30. By this method they would outface the conviction of all the gifts of the Holy Ghost after Christ's ascension, and defeat them all, after which there remained no more proof, and therefore they should never have forgiveness, but were liable to eternal damnation. They were in imminent danger of that everlasting punishment, from which there was no redemption, and in which there was no intermission, no remission.

From Adam Clark's commentary

Mat 12:31 -

All manner of sin and blasphemy -
Βλασφημια, injurious or impious speaking, mocking and deriding speech, Anglo-Saxon. See Mat_9:3.

But the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost - Even personal reproaches, revilings, persecutions against Christ, were remissible; but blasphemy, or impious speaking against the Holy Spirit was to have no forgiveness: i.e. when the person obstinately attributed those works to the devil, which he had the fullest evidence could be wrought only by the Spirit of God. That this, and nothing else, is the sin against the Holy Spirit, is evident from the connection in this place, and more particularly from
Mar_3:28-30. "All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme; but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation; Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."

Here the matter is made clear beyond the smallest doubt - the unpardonable sin, as some term it, is neither less nor more than ascribing the miracles Christ wrought, by the power of God, to the spirit of the devil. Many sincere people have been grievously troubled with apprehensions that they had committed the unpardonable sin; but let it be observed that no man who believes the Divine mission of Jesus Christ, ever can commit this sin: therefore let no man’s heart fail because of it, from henceforth and for ever, Amen.

Mat 12:31-32 -

Here is a gracious assurance of the pardon of all sin upon gospel terms. Christ herein has set an example to the sons of men, to be ready to forgive words spoken against them. But humble and conscientious believers, at times are tempted to think they have committed the unpardonable sin, while those who have come the nearest to it, seldom have any fear about it. We may be sure that those who indeed repent and believe the gospel, have not committed this sin, or any other of the same kind; for repentance and faith are the special gifts of God, which he would not bestow on any man, if he were determined never to pardon him; and those who fear they have committed this sin, give a good sign that they have not. The trembling, contrite sinner, has the witness in himself that this is not his case.

John Wesley's commentary
Mat 12:31 - The blasphemy against the Spirit - How much stir has been made about this? How many sermons, yea, volumes, have been written concerning it? And yet there is nothing plainer in all the Bible. It is neither more nor less than the ascribing those miracles to the power of the devil, which Christ wrought by the power of the Holy Ghost. Mar_3:28; Luk_12:10.

John Gill's commentary
Mat 12:31 - Wherefore I say unto you,.... This shows, that what follows is occasioned by what the Pharisees had said, concerning the miracles of Christ; imputing them to diabolical influence and assistance, when they were done by the Spirit of God, of which they themselves were conscious;

all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: not unto all men, for there are some, who, as they are never truly convinced of sin, and brought to repentance for it, so they never have the remission of it; but to such to whom God of his free grace has promised, and for whom he has provided this blessing, in the covenant of his grace; for whom the blood of Christ was shed, for the remission of their sins; and who, by the Spirit of God, are made sensible of them, and have repentance unto life given them, and faith in Christ, by which they receive the forgiveness of them: the sense is, that all kind of sin, whether committed more immediately against God, or man, the first or second table of the law, or against any of the divine precepts; be they sins small or great, secret or open, sins of heart, lip, or life, or attended with whatsoever aggravating circumstances; and all kind of blasphemy, or evil speaking of men, or of angels, or of the name of God, but what is hereafter excepted, there is forgiveness of in the grace of God, through the blood of Christ, even for all sorts of men and sinners whatever. The Jews have a saying
(z), that God pardons all sins,

חוץ מן הזמה, "except lasciviousness".''

But this is not excepted by Christ, only what follows,

but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, shall not be forgiven unto men: by which is meant, not every ignorant denial of, and opposition to his deity and personality; nor all resistance of him in the external ministry of the word; nor every sin that is knowingly and wilfully committed; but it is a despiteful usage of the Spirit of grace, an opposing, contradicting, and denying the operations wrought, or doctrines revealed by him, against a man's own light and conscience, out of wilful and obstinate malice, on purpose to lessen the glory of God, and gratify his own lusts: such was the sin of the Scribes and Pharisees; who, though they knew the miracles of Christ were wrought by the Spirit of God, yet maliciously and obstinately imputed them to the devil, with a view to obscure the glory of Christ, and indulge their own wicked passions and resentments against him; which sin was unpardonable at that present time, as well as under that dispensation then to come, when the Spirit of God was poured down in a more plenteous manner.

Sorry this is so long but I couldnt imagine living my life with this kind of guilt thinking I couldnt be saved and am going to hell. that kind of false doctrine would make anyone go insane.I know there are many many more people out there that think thay have done this sin that's why i wanted to put all this on here
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Hello,

Thanx for your reactions. I don't know if it's clear but in my first message I named a website. So you can read my experience there, of course you need to put www in front.
Maybe sin against the holy spirit is a wrong name for the experience I've been through.
I think 'losing my salvation' is better. And that's a thing which can be a reality if you go the wrong way and be stubborn as I have been.
some texts about that
- 2 Pet2 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,”and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”
- the vine and the branches john 15
- heb 6 4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
7Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

That's why Paul says in phillipians that we have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
I hope this will clarify more.

Sebastiaan,

you shouldn't depend on some holy light in your life. God hasn't deserted us on earth, but he made a promise not to intervene with our lives unless we asked him too. We are here to become stronger spirits, and you have received many false teachings which have ruined your life completely. Start looking at the facts instead of the fantasies. Life is like a bus station, you take the bus to your right destination, if its the wrong bus you get out , and take the right one back. You have to step out of your anti-christian teachings immediatly, and get yourself a job that earns you a lot of money. You need to grab your gf and get her away from the misery you both are in now. You have to try to make the best of your life, for your and her benefit. How could you be so naive? And let everyone walk over you in your life? Most people are selfish and a lot of these selfish people claim to know God and even love Jesus. But their actions aren't devine ,loving and helpfull at all.

Your actions need to be loving and helpfull. Any act of love that you display will be noticed and appreciated by God. And God gives you unconditional love no matter what you did.

Yes you felt bad, and it probably wasn't that great. But, you learned from it. Namely that the only thing that you learn from mistakes is that you shouldn't make them. You need to.

Life is what you make it , celebrate it.

Therefore it's your OWN fault that you are in the situation that you are currently in. You can't blame anyone but yourself, you are the one who needs to decide that 'these' people are no good for you, you are the one who needs to decide that these people are without love and only care about your money.

Sebastiaan, you are a wonderfull person. But for a person who wants to hurt you it sure is easy to screw you all over time over time over time again. You need to be the one who says ' to here and no further ' You are hoping that God will do and fix everything in your life, but you are the one who needs to fix everything yourself.
