Simpsons have been going down hill ever since the last season. Now this season, 16th, things are just terrible. Writing: Dumb. Lip Sync: Deplorable. It's just so unlike the Simpsons!

Now, they're going to tag that popular demographic by getting Bart to do gangsta' rap.

I for one will be boycotting the episode and most likely the rest of the season. Whose with me?!

Yeah there are several shows we don't watch and don't allow our boys to watch. The Simpsons, King of the Hill and due to inappropriate things we even discourage Spongebob. This may not be popular with others but there are much better things for them to do than watch this garbage. I may not be able to monitor them all the time but it is my job as a parent to certainly try. My wife and I are certainly not prudes either, just good parents. If anyone thinks what we do is censorship, well when it comes to the raising of my kids into mature and good Christian adaults, I'll risk it.

Gotta LOVE The Simpsons!!!! Tis without a doubt my absolutely favorite show. I'm not much into possessing material items but the Simpsons DVDs are a "must" have for me. Doctors have proven that cartoons release stress for adults.... and the cartoons I watch, like Looney Tunes and The Simpsons, they weren't made for kids. I know we should lean on God alone for things like relieving stress but ya know, I don't come from that extreme Christian background but I do place my faith for everything in Christ. In being a Christian I have learned to separate sin from cinematography. In the case of the Simpsons and Futurama and Family Guy and King of the Hill - i separate sin from the art of animation and from the parody because that's what cartoons are. They're fun and they're parody, they do not depict real life... except maybe Futurama, oh, and Family Guy because my dog walks and talks just like Brian does!

Seriously - The Simpsons to me is not bad. Going downhill? Some episodes still have a ton of laughs while others fall flat at times but the way I see it that's happened in each and every season. I'll not boycott because it's not as good overall is it used to be. And I'll not boycott because they do not harmfully or maliciously put down Christianity or Christians nor do they promote evil. It's a cartoon. It's parody. I'd not want my children watching and if they did I'd want to discuss with them what is bad within The Simpsons and how they should not copy anything negatve in The Simpsons... but as a mature Christian I am able to, because I am armed with God's Word and because my love for Christ is so great, I'm able to recognize what is sin in the world and not let it affect me or turn me away from God.

I pray your kids will have a sense of humor and can one day laugh at themselves.

Thing is - The Simpsons shifted considerably in their target audience around season three, where the narrative centre of the show moved from Bart to Homer. The show is now really an adult satire show, in the same way that King of the Hill is. They are not kids programmes, so I don't know why people act so shocked at the content. I think they are, on the whole, perceptive, witty, clever and a breath of fresh air.

I've been a Simpsons fan for a long time, and like many others, I too have been disappointed by the very obvious downhill slide the show has taken over the past few seasons. I think the current one is especially bad, almost to the point of being unwatchable. I actually fell asleep during the last one. :(

Futurama, is waaay better than the Simpsons right now. It reminds me of when conan o'brien used to write for the show in from 1992-1995 (about right), now they are playing us for fools.

I loved Futurama! I was really ticked off when they canceled it.

Good for you, Counselor! As a parent, you have the right and the duty to censor anything you do not think is appropriate for your children to view.

WE prohibit our children from watching ANYTHING on the four main network channels (FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC), all the so-called "local access" channels, PBS, WGN, LifeTime, Oxygen, the Soap Channel, E!, Discovery, the Animal Channel, Nickelodeon, Disney, the Cartoon Channel, CNN, MSNBC, Comedy Central, the History Channel, American Movie Classics, Turner Classic Movies, FX, Spike (the so-called "mens" channel which is nothing more than a nudie channel!), VH1, MTV, BET, Univision, or any of the so-called "premium" channels.

Our children may watch the Home and Garden Channel, the Food Network, the Weather Channel, the Style Network, and Trinity Broadcasting. Period.

i'm a bit of a futurama nut i laugh so much at it. i am a simpsons fan, but futurama is better, and family guy is also funny. not a king of the hill fan though

with the censoring of all those channels, can i just ask, why the history channel, do you not like the thought of them learning or something? that's very OTT

I think you've missed Uber's stingingly sharp wit. If there was any question, just read his custom title.

There was nothing to miss.

Sarcasm 101 - there really ought to be a wink (;)) if a statement isn't blatantly sarcastic or else it just isn't sarcasm to anyone but the poster. There isn't a single thing in the above statement to hint that the poster isn't really thinking what he typed.

No they were made for all! ;) Simpsons are cool and funny, ok some of the shows are bad, but i have not seen them go that far downhill.

The loony tunes are great (Road Runner and Wile. E. Coyote are my favorite - i actually will him to catch that pesky road runner, but never happens, cant forget Daffy either!)

But i love Futurama and was very annoyed when it stopped (the very last episode was rubbish). Zoidberg was genius in the last series and Bender is the best.

Boycott the Simpsons? I may not watch it too often anymore, but its great when i do.
