This is probably silly to some of you but how do you know when to increase the formula say when they are one month, 2 month & so on? I don't go back to take Grace to the doc til the end of Oct. & I'm thinking now how do I know how much to give her.

I think it's better to just go by the baby's cues... If she's hungry, feed her. If she pushes the nipple out of her mouth, she's done.![]()
One reason I asked is because the pediatrician said like 3 oz if she sleeps 3 hrs and 4 oz for 4 hrs.
Hey Sweetie!
That's not a silly question. They kind of let you know by crying their hungry cry and rooting more often. Maggie just hit a growth spurt and jumped from 4-6 oz. per feeding (every 3-4 hours). I knew she needed more because she just cried her hungry cry and bobbed her head around a few minutes after her bottle was finished. She's not a very tricky baby though; she's got a pretty structured life (sleep, eat, look around time, and sleep again).
Grace would eat a ton too if I let her. She gained a 1lb in the first week. The pediatrician just said to be careful. And I read somewhere overfeeding causes upset stomachs.
