  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw it in a list of trailers for Video Dectective at IMDB so I watched it along with several others, and I must say it looks really creepy and cool. I just hope it isn't filled with trash for an"R" rating.hope it's PG-13 like Exorcism Of Emily Rose was.

I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time now. I will be there opening night, most definitely. And I work at a movie theatre, so I'm sure I'm going to take full advantage of that as well :D

I'm so geeked out about seeing the monsters on the big screen, I just love Pyramid Head. This is going to rock. Even if the movie sinks to Uwe Boll level (and I really don't think it will), I'd probably love it. April 21 can't come fast enough.

As a side note, I just read an interview in EGM where Gans said he'd be interested in doing SH3 as a sequel. Valtiel and Closers? Yes please :prayer:

ahahhaha ... i wish i can see your face when you see it. it's going to get a hard R rating unless the film's raped by the MPAA ratings board.

there was a description of a scene i read the other day describing a spirit as "skinning" a body like an egg shell. that has my interest perked.

Ehh...there are no "spirts" in Silent Hill, really. There are ghosts, if that's what they were referring to. And skinning doesn't sound like something that would happen there, at least in front of you. The horror is much more subtle then that, usually. It's gory, yes, but I've yet to see anything like that. Not saying it couldn't happen though. I hope it doesn't, it sounds horror movie cliche, but whatever.

I agree with you about the rating. I believe Gans already confirmed it's going to be "R". There's no way anything involving Silent Hill could be anything less and remain true to the feel and atmosphere of the town.

I can't wait for the movie, I'm psyched:) It reminds me a lot of SH 1 which is cool. The only thing I'm worried about is showing the main characters husband in the outside world trying to find them.

I just think SH would be more isolated than that like it is in the game. But then again, I won't judge it til I see it and I'm really excited for it.

Heck, the trailer at the beginning, with the Jeep and the road, with the woman almost hitting the ghostly figure in the road, coupled with the pan out showing the top of the Jeep and when the mother looks over and sees the passenger's seat empty... It's taken almost scene for scene from Silent Hill 1.

I've a feeling it's going to be Silent Hill 1 based, with smatterings of the ones that came after it. The woman's husband sort of puts a vibe of SH2 in it as he's looking for his wife and very well may be caught up in the horrors in the town too once he gets in there. Maybe that's why PH is there, to couple his SH2ish influence, but the symbolism is all wrong, unless he too feels the same kind of guilt James in SH2 did.

There's been outside activity away from SH before. In SH4 in particular, and SH3 for a while in the game.

While I wonder about the trailer with the people going into the church, I wonder if they're cult members that have realised that maybe they've been fooled about what paradise really is. (Those who've played the games will know about the cult and the way they've been manipulated and had what they see altered by the demonic forces trying to break through using Silent Hill as a portal.)

I've got a LOT of theories and thoughts about Silent Hill, as I'm a big fan. I guess it's kinda obvious...

One thing... Pyramid Head was created (in that form anyway) for James in Silent Hill 2. I find it odd that he'd still look the way he does in Silent Hill: The Movie.

Maybe it'll be explained.

It's been argued that Pyramid Head isn't necessarily exclusive to James. Some people believe he is what the cult refers to as the red god, but he did exist in some form as an executioner years ago (the Misty Days portrait). I suppose the town could conjur him up again if need be. I don't know if he always has to appear when there is guilt, it seems he is just a messanger to serve the town's purposes. Or as someone else on the SH forum mentioned, perhaps Rose is feeling guilt over Sharon's condition?
Who knows? I'm just happy he's in it

Edit: I was wrong about the ripping the skin off thing. It's been confirmed, although it's not a spirit, it's Pyramid Head. I guess I haven't been as up to date with the movie news as I would have liked ^_^

Indeed, especially the look of decay that seems to pervade the town. Even it it's not-so-dark 'misty' form.

Oh, I don't doubt PH's been around a while, just I'm not sure if his role has always been as executioner. At least in as blatant a form. The pictures James sees in the jail could still have been conjured by his own psyche, as how else would he have recognised PH?

Meh, many people have many theories about SH. They're all equally valid, as far as I can tell. For now anyway. I hope this movie doesn't take away from the mystery of the town. At least no more than what another game would. We already know that Silent Hill's influence can move, and isn't limited to the city limits of the town.

Edit: I was wrong about the ripping the skin off thing. It's been confirmed, although it's not a spirit, it's Pyramid Head. I guess I haven't been as up to date with the movie news as I would have liked

Hehe, sounds like something he'd do. Though I hope you don't actually see the rippage. I kinda hope the protagonist (whoever it will be, Rose or her husband at the time) just comes across the flayed body and has an appropriate SH Protagonist moment. "What...the hell?" :D

Maybe they'll have them jumping down holes too. Many many many holes. ;)
