  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello! The friendly neighborhood inquisitive kitty is back again, this time with a marginally more responsive keypad ~

This time I want to ask born-again Chistians about signs. Did you ever experience signs or coincidences which seemed to be encouraging you to take up Christianity? Does God ever place certain people or things into our lives to nudge us towards Christianity?

I ask because I recently began dreaming about Christianity. One night I dreamed that my best friend from high school, a devout girl who I haven't seen since high school, took me to Planetshakers Conference with her. The next day, in real life, she surprised me by showing up at my work and inviting me out to lunch. It was then that she invited me to her Church. I am just seeing when I'll be free at this stage.

A few days later, my partner was at an ATM. I wasn't paying attention, and he suddenly handed me a coin. It was a coin with John 3:16 on one side and the Sinner's Prayer on the other. It isn't in his nature to present me with religious tokens, and it isn't in the nature of an ATM to be harbouring religious tokens... :p

So, i can't help but wonder...

I'm not sure how you're defining "born-again Christian" in here, but can attempt to answer from my perspective anyway.

I don't regard signs as normative of conversion or leading toward conversion; but there's certainly nothing which ought rule it out. I am of the position that, however, it's important to stay sober-minded and hold a certain amount of healthy skepticism. It can be unhealthy to come to expect signs. Jesus Himself taught, "a wicked and unfaithful generation seeks after a sign".

So there's certainly all possibility that such amazing things can happen, but one ought to keep their head screwed on tight.

Yes .... many "signs" that lead me in the direction of "Christianity". However, I also had signs that lead me away from "Christianity" as well. I could list some detailed examples which would even seem rather "obvious" in their nature, but I don't want a tl/dr post unless asked lol.

Do you think you are supposed to follow those bread crumbs, to see where they lead ? Or what do you think you are seeing where they lead already ?

Signs are always present, but it is up to as to read them as we navigate our lives. God reaches out to everyone in some form or fashion. He does so in a way that is meaningful to the individual. That why there can truly be no excuse on the day of your judgment no matter what your exposure to Christianity is.
